SSM car to spoon Leafy with
What a fun weekend.
Left a little before 5pm on Friday. Stopped in Troy, NY to eat Dinosaur BBQ and stayed there for the night. Got to Seneca around 10am Friday to do some test and tune runs. That course was super fun.
Have been struggling with cones this year for some reason. And I keep hitting them with the rear, which didn't even change from CSP. I need to fix that because I coned all three runs on Saturday, including the run that would have been the fastest time in SSM. I was still thrilled that the car was even on pace, especially considering the competition. 2015 and 2017 national champs, and Martin Valent is no slouch.
Sunday I finally had a clean run (two, actually!). But, was quite a bit off the pace of the top 3. Combination of driving (certainly didn't have a run as good as the one on Saturday), and running out of gear everywhere.
I met @TNTUBA 's co-driver, Randall. Hopefully we'll end up at the same event in the future.
Going to try to bring mid-summer aero upgrades to local event this weekend. I need to track down some ABS knuckles so I can finally install ABS.

No, not at all naive. I wish I had tried it. My first run on Saturday, I nailed the 2->3 shift coming through the final few elements. Ended up 80-85 through the finish. Second run, I got 5th.
Probably going to make my own motor mounts at some point, similar to the ones 949 sells. The stock mounts suck.

Borrowed 900lb springs from a friend to experiment with. Up from 840's. Softened the front sway bar a notch.
Oh mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. It was good yesterday. Coned what would have been 3rd in pax, twice. I need to stop doing that.

Absolutely no way going to 3rd anywhere on that course would have been faster. The car is gaining serious pace, you really need to consider getting a 6 speed and a 4.30. Launching in 2nd and getting to 3rd. That will give you the top speed you need for most courses.

I'm glad you suggested the 6sp/4.30 combo as that's what I was leaning towards (also the least cost as I have a 4.30 already).
Corded both tires I had on the front from rubbing on the top of the shock tower/inner fender area. Really annoying as they were pretty low run tires. Putting a few packers in to help with that. I tested with the springs out this week; the tire contacts after the bump stop is already being compressed slightly. Also going to borrow more proper springs to install at the event tomorrow morning. I'm current running 900/500. Borrowing 1100's and 600's to test, and will likely just buy them. Though more likely will need 650's in the rear.

Front and rear? I'm going to try it tomorrow and see how it feels and make purchase decisions based on that. 900 is definitely too low. No one had 1000's I could borrow, which is what I was hoping for. 1100/600 makes a lot more sense ride frequency wise than 900/500.
It's probably more springs than your shocks will be happy with but it shouldn't be that bad unless your shocks have a million psi of nitrogen. If you had more power you might consider it loose. But 900lb is not enough to keep the car off the bump stops in a bump free turn without running a higher ride height.
Guess that's why my car is so slow then.
I have less than 950lbs on the front of my car for reference.
and it's not a shock issue, it's not a ride height issue and my 15x11s and even 295s dont rub the shock tower.
