I used the chance While I was at it and did a status check on the valvetrain. Everything looked super clean which is reassuring.
Finally bought a DA polisher and set up a dedicated detailing shelf, still have to buy a few things but nice to finally get the proper tools to take care of the paint
And lucked out and got a Fluke 83-5 for 150$, (Usually retails around 350-400) brand new in packaging. It's gonna make electrical work so much easier next winter but has already helped me track down the intermittent failure in my HID lights (faulty igniter)
Also did a little pull with a friend. Enough to put him back through puberty judging by the sounds he made

Nice man! Good to know about the CAS cap, I'm going to be switching to a trigger wheel setup on my car and will need to cap it.. will have to make sure I get the bracket as well.
I love how people react when they ride in a ~250 WHP miata. Mines at a similar power level, and I took my buddy for a ride the other day who is a big GTO nut, and he reacted similarly. He kept commenting about how fast my car is, like it was the fastest car he's ever been in. I had to explain to him it's quick and all, but it's more of the sensation of speed in a miata. It feels fast as ****, but it's still a low 13/high 12 second car and he's definitely been in much faster cars.
Makes for a damn good time though, the miata is always a blast.

spent about 2 days 2 stage polishing, applying a coat of blacklight and then fusso coat over that. car is like a mirror now and getting flies off it takes no more effort than a spray from a garden hose.
Met up with another miata and took him for a spin, infecting him with the turbo bug. I also love the midnight sun in the summers. Just great lighting for photography aaaaaall night.

Gearing up for another winter I already have some minor stuff lined up.
I got "new" seats since I find them better looking and more comfortable than the NB1 seats. too bad about the upholstery but it's the only set available in Iceland so I gotta make do. Any suggestions on tight fitting reupholstery kits?
And puppy tax, meet Nappi the Icelandic sheepdog
Ordered LEDs to both do a LED taillight conversion and sequential turn signals, LEDs for the interior and gauges.
nothing groundbreaking but it's a start for the winter

My oven overshoots when getting up to temp. would've been nice to know before I threw my taillight in there and deformed the lens. There is ONE parts car in Iceland now and it had one intact taillight, fortunately it was the right one, I would've been fucked if I had started by doing the other light lol.
Updated my gauges by changing out the bulbs to LEDs and cleaning the green film off the back with acetone
Then got a clutch upgrade since the normal supermiata clutch liked to slip on launches at a prepped track.

we've done a lot in the last few days. I've wired in an accessory fusebox for all extras since I don't like tapping into preexisting wiring. wired in a dashcam since range roves and volvos apparently are absolutely unaware of me in the lane besides them.
Made new IC piping and installed a BOV. Installed the much thicker sway bar mounts and racing beat front sway bar.
But then on Friday the car gave me a scare. I was driving and smelled something off, then I noticed smoke coming from under the hood in the drivers side. Pulled over, switched off, popped the hood and unbuckled the extinguisher. Took me about 10sec, felt like days. thankfully it was just smoke but the turbo feed line was obviously leaking on to the turbo at the fitting. I bought new fittings and seals. I cut back the heatshield tube around the hose since it had gotten contaminated and changed all the fittings/seals. Started it up and the hose itself was leaking through the braiding! last summer the hose managed to shift and touch the exhaust lightly, the protective sheath got a bit toasty but I didn't worry too much about it. Few weeks after that I started having a small oil leak on the passenger side of the engine that I just could not pinpoint, well now it started to make sense. The leak was just drops, and sloooowly traveling down the fabric of the outer protective sheatch to the right side of the engine and seeping out there.
Now I'm just going to get a new hose made and be happy I found it and can start enjoying the car as much as I did last 2 summers.
Just a note, this has nothing with Lars' build quality or design to do, it was 100% user error and I'm just glad it caused no damage

Insalled LEDs since the Morimoto HID system I had was **** and just would not work no matter how much I swapped through warranties. LED system is much simpler and although it isn't quite as bright as the HID it's way stronger than the OEM h4 bulbs and won't blind oncoming traffic thanks to the projectors. Plus I really don't need them that bright since the sun doesn't set in the summers here. Pic taken at 10pm
I'm using a short hub for my aftermarket wheel which means standard horn buttons won't fit due to the center nut. I'm drawing a low profile horn button that fits around the nut but in the meantime I decided I needed to plug the hole and tried to make it at least somewhat aesthetic. Semi translucent resin and pretty happy with the look of it. will most likely keep the same look for the final design of the horn button.

It's funny, I visited Iceland in early September (I think), so I missed one of its most characteristic features. Day/night was pretty much the same as it was at home in NYC at that time...
Is the beam pattern any different on the LEDs, or are they consistent with the HIDs because of the projectors? One of the things I love about the LEDs on my daily is that they put light in places that bulbs can't. I feel like the area right in front of the car is much better lit than with conventional bulbs.

Wide open the pattern might be a bit more spread out but on low beams there's a curtain that blocks half the lens and helps with clear cutoff. A friend is making a trigger for the curtains since I practically deleted the entire hid system and need a way to open up the curtain when I hit the high beams.
I like LEDs, just not in stock reflector housings because there's always a bit of light spread upwards. It's also slightly there with oem bulbs, just doesn't matter as much with less light output

I needed a place to mount a momentary switch cleanly. Drew this up and first version fit like a dream. If anyone needs this with or without the 19mm hole send me a PM and I'll send you the STL. V2 has more rounded edges and minor adjustments
Also, I gotta hurry to get a gopro and take a video of a fun road I've been meaning to shoot for years in the miata. The lava flow will be destroying it in the next few days
