found bad rust in my drivers side front chassis rail, from shock tower and forward. Kinda gutted right now. not really sure how to tackle it and there aren't any other shells here in Iceland.

I've got one for you. We just stack up the rust-free southern cars for safe keeping.

Perhaps another trip to Florida is in order?

well. I'll have a professional guy take a look at it after easter. depending on how that goes then yes, maybe.

There's a shipping company that'll freight it over here from Norfolk. But to tell you the truth I'd rather not go through all that hassle

Alright, the subframe is out and I got a professional welder coming in the next couple of days to take care of the chassis rail.

While the subframe was out I couldn't resist lowering the car on top of the engine to mock up the electrical system and see how things would fit. Gotta say that seeing it in the car gave me a bit of a morale boost.

Seeing the turbo there gets me thinking. I'm not running power steering and don't have AC. Do I still need an idler pulley or can I get away with just running the alternator off the crank? Without an idler it seems that the best IC piping route would just to go inside of the chassis rail

I mean you're going to run a standard water pump right? Just an alternator/water pump belt is fine.

Wait, wut ?

More details please.

Was this some Icelandic superpower you invoked? Because I picked up my block, to put it into the car to go to the machine shop, and about got a massive hernia.

I realize this question is a bit late. Progress looks good! Boost is good!

He's an Icelandic powerlifter. I've met him. Huge shoulders. He's a mountain of a man. Lifting a Miata engine is probably nothing to him.

lol. thanks. I'm not gonna say it was easy, jacking up the tranny to take a bit of load off helped a lot.

But yeah, been lifting for 4years now and it comes in handy once in a while. But calling all 5'7 of me a "mountain" is a bit generous

He's enormous. He's kidding about being 5'7". He's probably 6'7" and 280 lbs. Think Dolf Lundgren at his best, probably more.

Wait this could be good. G3ML1NGZ is a powerlifter. ViperorMiata is a pwoerlifter. I think we are about to have the first MT.net lift off. Next Sunday my backyard. I have several different Miata's they can lift and put in a giant dumpster for me and then I can crown one of them the strongest lifter on MT.

lol. and a reason to get over there to snag one of your manifolds, even if I know for a fact that viperormiata lifts way more than I do

But since we're on that subject. Both the car and I have had a similar amount of change in the same timeframe

A friend brought his NB FL over to check mine out.

it's a six speed with bilstein suspension and just a really clean car inside and out. It's the only the third miata I've driven but I really like the feel of the Bilsteins.

I applaud your icelandic superpowers. That silver NB does look pretty sweet.

Plans to rebuild my (literally) disintegrating garage are progressing nicely. Having not your Icelandic Superpowers, I've opted to have an I-beam specced out for the ceiling, so I can run a gantry crane on it, with either a come-along or perhaps a cheap electric winch. Because my swimming superpower days are far behind me, and my hernia potential days are Here and Now _

Finally moved in last friday and got the miata home yesterday. I'm just finishing the house, Spackle and paint all over the place. Will use the garage as is and then finish the walls and lay tiles in the fall. But damn it feels good to finally have your own garage

finally got back into working on the car after a short hiatus while getting settled in the new house.

fitted the dynapro's last night.

drilled new holes for the rear ABS sensors since the roll bar blocks their original access holes.
reassembled most of the interior

My parents gave me a dash cam and I was wondering about powering it. I seem to have lost my ohmmeter in the move so I can't check my plan so I'm asking you guys.

My hard top does not come with defroster so the plug is just sitting there unused.
Could I use the plug for that as a power source for the dash cam mounted in the roll bar and use the defroster switch as an on/off switch?

otherwise the electrical harness will be finished tomorrow and hopefully tossing the engine in over the weekend.
