For the objectives of this project (Maximize powerband with good overall power, optimize thermal conditions - both underhood and charge temperature, transparent/seamless power adder contribution, control system implementation) the super-turbo compound-twin hybrid topology is a clear winner for me. Keep in mind that I built a prototype, so I had an opportunity to change topologies, and I did re-consider my topology carefully prior to starting the second version. If I had prioritized overall power while keeping the other objectives the same, I would select a super-turbo twin. The turbo-super is always going to be limited by the SC outlet pressure to ambient ratio. This caps my peak power limit to a pretty low number, say between 300-400hp. If this ratio gets too big, the rotor pack seals in the SC fail and you blow out the snout. You see this happen on the factory SC cars where people decide to slap a turbo on there for 1000hp. A super-turbo twin does not have this limitation, but it will lose out on the low end of the powerband. I suspect that a properly implemented turbo-turbo can be designed to provide good low-end and the highest peak power, but it will lose out from a thermal perspective or have a much higher degree of complexity.
Honestly, I feel the ultimate power adder solution for the Miata platform is a built NB1 / NB2 with the TSE-BW (pick poision 62 or 67), Enthuza and MS3PRO PNP. I consider this combo to be at an elite level when compared to all other options.

Wow, I'm jealous for sure. Your spool (posted in "I need your spool") is crazy. I'm really interested in knowing what this will do (behave) on a launch (with good tires, in the summer).
Also, for the sake of humanity and the furtherance of knowledge, we will of course have to do a head to head drag race. The "ultimate built NB1 with TSE BW6758, 3" exhaust and MS3PRO PNP).. You know, for science.
BTW - my next move on this thing is to do the Bilstein upgrade and get my 15x9s on with 225/45. So then I'll be ready!

I just got mine aligned with my new suspension and tire setup. "Smark a Myth Racing" in Denver did it for me.
Hey if you've got a method to tune EAE you've got to share. I don't see how anyone other than OEMs with flow modeling software and fluid dynamics expertise has any hope of getting the Tau and X and whatever variables right.
I'm just working on getting my machine to not smell like the Exxon Valdez.

Yeah, I had Smark do mine as well.
I do have an offline EAE autotuner developed to a degree that it is producing good results. I am not going to post it here, but we can touch base via PM or text and see what we can do.

Great thread, I just wish it was longer, I saw your signature and instantly needed to know more.
Crazy builds like these are both inspiring and terrifying. for someone just starting out.

While the cooling system does need to be improved (95+ F in Colorado is brutal), IAT hasn't really been much of an issue. I have interstage A/A intercoolers, so on the street my IATs stay decently in check even when tuned for over 300whp uncorrected at 24psi (PR~3:1). Using an AC compressor for a drag car might have some benefit, but there is so much heat energy and air volume that I think it would overwhelm the AC system capacity quickly in a street application.

For the price, yeah I would expect it too.
I had a very thick triple pass manufactured to my specifications for a lot less. But I didn't pay to have anybody's name embossed on the top of it.
