I sold a slightly thinner slightly narrower one and had a thicker, wider one built. Both were custom. Second one was 25% thicker and 25% wider core. New one is a dual-core, each one 1.25 in. thick, 19in tall, cannot recall core width at present.

Well that sucks, -1 TSE.

I will be adding a drain plug, it is an essential feature. Thanks for the heads up!

If you don't use a factory undertray, there's room to put it on the bottom, but if you run the OEM undertray, there's no room there. If you have A/C, there may not be any room on the passenger side either. It's been ~8yrs since those were designed so I don't recall exactly why a drain plug was omitted on the NA in that location (rear-facing, passenger side) but it wasn't a flippant decision.

cool, not a deal breaker. I can always add one inline on the lower rad hose as well. It is already going to take a fair amount of work to get this to fit, so the incremental weld-a-bung into the radiator won't be too bad.

The dual downward drains on the SM rad are really nice, like so nice that I now consider at least one of them as required.

Winter upgrades this year are primarily with all-things-cooling, starting with the TSE radiator. A major refactor of the charge piping was required.

Bumped the first IC stage core volume by 70%. I had 400hp worth of core, by it was distributed between the 1st and 2nd stages. Now going to 600hp+ worth of core volume.

When you draw it that way, it looks pretty simple. :D

It is simple, everyone should do it.

Figured I would post a 1 year update.... car has been on the road without any issues for coming up on 12 months. It is an absolute delight to drive, smiles/miles is very high. It isn't a particularly high power build with winter trim uncorrected coming in at ~250lbft, 275 hp and summer trim at 300/350 uncorrected. It can at least get out of it's own way.

Plan on dropping a large chunk of change here on cosmetics in the May timeframe. My EGT sensors are starting to fail, so I will need to replace these at some point.

Ted75zcar 03-19-2021 10:34 PM

Delight :)

Winter trim 3rd gear pull, 25-85mph (6spd, 3.30)

The madman from Boulder County at it again. I drove this car last fall.... WOW! It was quite the experience!

Nice start-up.

Post up your tune, and supporting start mods, please.

oreo 03-20-2021 11:30 AM

Excellent!, thanks for sharing Ted.
Glad to hear things are reliable, however I was not aware that EGT sensors wore out.
Out of curiosity, what boost levels represent 250 and 300 ft/lb of torque?

Ted75zcar 03-20-2021 05:20 PM

Thanks all,

Apologies DNM, I don't post my tune(s) in the open forum.

Oreo, I get 250lbft at 205kpa on e10, 300lbft at 245kpa on e70. I run conservative timing.

I use exposed element EGT sensors. It seems I get about 3 years out of a set. I may try a set of the fully sheathed kind next time. They are a bit of a PITA to replace because they are located on the bottom side of the manifold (whoops).

I think this photo illustrates how awesome this setup is. Some real mad scientist stuff. I love it.

What's in the plans for cosmetic work to the car?

well, there isn't a straight panel on the darn thing. Want to make it look a little closer to how it drives. I have a pretty high end hot-rod guy lined up to fix all the dents and repaint (still Mariner).

Questions please.

During a transition from off to full throttle, is there a period where you have a slight vacuum between the turbo and super?
Is your GTX a gen 2?
