It's a serious struggle. If a 99-04 fits the bill they are significantly cheaper, and even newer/nicer. But the gearing is slightly different.
Edit: looks like it does have a .68 5th and the slightly different other ratios. I wonder how they would do.

I'm going to do a little digging and try and find some local to test out.
Mods feel free to break this discussion off into its own thread . It would be great if Mt.net became the go to t5 resource lolol.

Probably apples to oranges but the t5 in my roommates s10 is the sexiest trans I've ever shifted.
I'm mostly doing it for the bolt in huge torque solutions. When I run into that money tree I've been looking for.

Full race 6758 specifications: BorgWarner EFR 6758 Turbo - Full-Race.com
Compressor Wheel OD: 67mm
Compressor inducer: 53.9mm
Full race 6258 specifications: BorgWarner EFR 6258 Turbo - Full-Race.com
Compressor Wheel OD: 62mm
Compressor inducer: 49.6mm
They both have a 58mm turbine wheel. Hence the 62/6758

I'm still a little confused what you are talking about.
I just pulled apart my 6758 and the compressor housing fits very closely to the wheel. I guess you could like machine it out, but thats just like upgrading to the next compressor housing size.
