1992 Mazda Miata 1.6 - $4600

Category: Import
Status: Clean Title

I have a 1992 Mazda Miata 1.6 for sale, in USA - Texas.

Mileage: 110000 miles

Asking price is $4600

I got this car from Todd Davis on here and basically am selling for a couple reasons. This car is a beast (for those that used to remember Todd's car). It is about 225-250hp. I'm selling because basically i've had a HELL OF A TIME dealing with this. This was my 1st time having a turbo car. To make a long story short, I blew the engine trying to tune it and had to replace it. But I replaced a blown 142k miles engine with a stock engine with 110k miles so the engine is actually newer.

The car is available to come look at. It needs a tune and I think that's about it. Anyone that has questions, just let me know. Also Todd knows the history of this car and what I've been through with it. On the price of $4600, it is fairly firm. I'm already losing money on the buy and the repair costs for new engine. It is a very fast miata with ALOT of mods. It just needs the right person. I have title in hand.

This miata is crazy fast and basically I need to get rid of it because it's not the car for me :( But it would make a good home for someone familiar with miata's and tuning!!

Here is the parts list and I have more pics I can send. I'm in Plano (Dallas tx)

- 3" Enthuza exhaust w/resonator silverline
- 52MM Race Radiator (Godspeed)
- Flying Miata II Turbo Kit GTR2560
- Flying Miata Intercooler
- Racing Beat Springs
- Racing Beat Sway bars
- Racing Rear Brace
- AM Wideband
- Stewart Warner Boost Gauge
- AEM Wideband 02
- Megasquirt Standalone ECU
- RC440 Injectors
- NAC Cold air induction
- Flying Miata heat shield
- Strut tower brace
- Racing beat rollbar
- Flying Miata ACT clutch
- Lightened flywheel
- 1.8L rear end
- 17" Wheels

Thanks for your interest let me know if you have questions.

I'm not sure if open or torsen. I'll see if I can find out from Todd.

The top is pretty much new and the car has been garaged since I've had it.

goop 12-22-2009 12:55 PM

I'll get a pic of the top up

2004Busa 12-22-2009 03:58 PM

Haha this Todd?? I know man...but it's been too long! And I just need a car at this point. Plus I don't want to mess with constant tuning changing stuff for inspections, etc...

goop 12-22-2009 05:00 PM

Todd do you know what kind of rear end it is? open or torsen?

goop 12-22-2009 05:02 PM

When I bought the car I didnt really know about the added maintenance and stuff that goes along with a turbo car

jdmcwestevo 12-22-2009 08:27 PM

would you take a trade for a stock miata plus cash

2004Busa 12-22-2009 09:05 PM

No thanks. I appreciate the offer, but at this point I'd rather have the cash so I can decide what to do from there... You could sell your stock one and put the money together for this one maybe?

Toddcod 12-24-2009 12:11 PM

I don't know why you don't just have it tuned........... That is a great car. I don't know if the rearend is open or torsen. I know it is low mileage.

Everything was top of the line that I bought. And with your motor, it is basically a new car.
I put this car together myself. And I'm a extremely good mechanic.

The clutch is the strongest street Happy Meal clutch FM makes, with low mileage. FM light weight flywheel.

The exhaust is stainless, and one of the best sounding exhaust I've heard. It is very basey, but quite and comfortable to drive. And When you hit it. Jackel and Hide. It comes ALIVE!

All the chicks look to see whats coming.

The rims where imported from Japan, (before I bought it.)

And I had just put a brand new top on it.

The Motor was installed by a trusted friend of mine, he built a 450 RWHP 240 himself. And the only mechanic I trust to work on my turbo cars, except me.
The motor was bought from another local friend who knew the motor.

Get Jason to tune it for you. OR meet up with me sometime. Get it tuned KEEP IT!..........or then sell it for 5800.00.

GUYS THIS CAR IS WICKED FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! from a 70 punch. My cousins Hybusa only pulled 2 1/2 car lenghts to 130mph. He was shocked.

If your intrested IN BUYING A RACE READY CAR.......With no expense spared. This is your chance.

Toddcod 12-24-2009 12:29 PM

I told ya, I have 305cc injectors and a msd.

We can pick up a FMU and you will never have to mess with any tuning. We will set you up on 10psi. And I'll install the stuff for FREE!!!!! Frebie..
And you'll still have a wicked crazy fast car.

Or spend 2hrs with Jason, keep 13psi, and you don't have to work on anything. The MSPNP is a simple setup.......
OR I'm off alot. Meet up with me sometime. Well setup megalog veiwer and let it tune it's self.

It won't take 2hrs either way.

That car is a good daily. I drove it for 2 years.........

rmantoo 12-27-2009 03:13 AM

Can you email me your other pics?

I live in Frisco and am very interested in your car.

cieloazul555@gmail.com

thanks,

Toddcod 12-27-2009 10:52 PM

I had just installed a DVD/Radio in it too. I got it for a gift and he bought it like a week later. My brother almost killed me for letting the DVD/radio sell with it.

I can't belive I forgot Rush Hour in it.LOL

Robert if you need his number, pm me. He isn't on here much.

Toddcod 12-27-2009 10:57 PM

Guys if anyone has any questions about the car, I'll be more than happy to answer them.

And yes it will spank vetts. LOL....And yes it will drift.

This shouldn't be sold. He should keep it....The only reason I sold it was to pay bills off.

Bilal, seriously, keep the car. Todd will help you and at 10 psi you should be able to drive it daily and in the summer. I promise you will regret selling this. Yes I talk to Sudesh all the time.

bmxer10 12-29-2009 04:13 PM

Im interested also. Can you PM me your email address?

No, it was red and professionally painted yellow by a previous owner. The paint job looks good though, they painted everything that was red.

miatauser884 12-30-2009 06:10 PM

OP: I really can't believe you are selling this car. Not to mention I think you are giving it away. I know the process of tuning is a pain in the ass, but once it's done; a well setup car is pretty trouble free. At least tune it, and then re-evaluate in the summer. This way you will get to enjoy a reliable car during nice weather before making a decision.

I have free long distance. If you pm me your numbers I'll call you back.

THE REST IS CAKE.

OR I'm telling you in 2 hrs we can swap it to FMU and msd. And you never have to deal with anything again.

TURN THE KEY FOREVER!!!!!!!

The only problem he had was temp corrections. The temperature changed, and the tune got off.

He tried megalogviewer without changing the VE tables for boost. It went lean....He shoved it wot,,,,,,,XXXX!!!! BOMB!

Innocent mistake. I hated it for him!!!!!!!

But everything is ready to role now.

GOOP What r u doing this week?

hustler 12-31-2009 10:11 PM

the hayabusa didn't know there was a race if it didn't shit stomp.

hustler 12-31-2009 10:12 PM

I street raced bikes. There is no touching them from a takeoff, but you can run with them from the highway start. He did win....... But I was following.;)

They usually leave cars like they are still.

theres no way he beat a busa. maybe it was a 600 with busa plastics, but there is no way in hell he beat a busa.

snakeeyes 01-08-2010 09:08 PM

Goop, is the car still for sale or have you been talked out of it? I'm in San Antonio and have been looking for a turbo Miata for a while. In its current state of tune, would it be driveable (gently) to SA?

Thanks,
Bob

kotomile 01-08-2010 09:25 PM

Just for the record, Goop, just because the engine only has 110,000 miles on it doesn't mean you can legally claim that mileage as the odo reading. Not trying to flame, just FYI. Don't want to see you get in trouble, as has happened to others.

If you do decide to sell it...

Email me at viriiguy at gmail. I have a friend in the area who ships cars and may just have to have him come get it :)

Well honestly now, I kinda want to tune it. Is anyone still willing to help me get it tuned?

Todd did you get my message?

I'm not necessarily against selling it though either.... I don't know that I would trust driving it around until it's tuned. It would probably need to be tuned 1st. Do you know how to tune? No offense, but if not, you may want to learn about tuning some 1st, as this is how I got into this mess in the 1st place!

I gotcha. I've done a lot of work on cars but when it comes to tuning through the computers on my cars and bikes, I know my limitations. I use Corey Henderson at Henderson Performance in New Braunfels. He knows how to build power under the curve but keeps things pretty conservative, which I like.

Anyhow, your car sounds like what I've been looking for--an occasional daily driver that I can use for track days at Harris Hill Raceway and also for an autocross now and then--but I would need to do a fly-in, drive home deal and would hate to do the car harm if the tune was that far out. My thought was that, if I bought it, I would talk to Corey about stopping at his shop and tuning it on the way home, but you can tell me if you think it could make it that far safely.

snakeeyes 01-08-2010 10:35 PM

Goop, BTW, I tried to reply to your PM but it wouldn't let me because my post count is too low. I'm tied up tonight but will give you a call tomorrow during the day.

Does everyone not read!

I never said i beat one.:jerkit:

I said his 2004 busa only pulled 2 1/2 from 70 to 130 mph.

We all know a bike will kill you from take off. and the miata runs out of rpms at 130.

Learn to read......

And don't question my bike experiance. I've had several modified liter bikes. I used to buzz through traffic 170mph + on 635, 35, I20, Loop 12 & etc.
I just decided I was too crazy on them, and knew it was time to throw in the towel for a roll bar!

Goop, I've had family in town and working this whole weekend. When are you free?

We can tune it fast.
But someone else will have to help you with temp corrections. Hustler offered assistance aswell. I think he has his worked out.

I'm off MON & Tues.

If e decides to sell it. We can get a decent tune to get you there.

goop 01-25-2010 01:23 PM

Well I've decided to get the car tuned for now. I'm wondering should I just get the current setup tuned or should I switch it so I have stock computer so I don't have to mess with tuning BUT lower PSI?

Right now I'm thinking to work with Todd on changing to stock computer with lower psi so I don't have to tune now and then tune again when weather changes. I just need to get the Bipes timing unit and FMU. Todd has the other stuff needed. Any thoughts?

Miatamaniac92 01-25-2010 08:11 PM

Goop,
PM Sent, shoot me a pm back and we'll talk turkey.

steveb 01-25-2010 11:30 PM

Have you definitly decided to keep it?

Your car seems interesting. Please let me know if you change your mind and want to sell it.
I'm in So Cal and would have it picked up and delivered to someone who specializes in tuning.
A couple questions:
Any chance that it could be made to pass Cal smog?
Does it even have a Cat. converter?
Any idea of what it MAY cost to get it to the point of making it more reliable and not necessary to tune all the time?
Were their any pics posted?
Thanks

goop 02-19-2010 12:14 PM

I haven't updated this thread in awhile and just wanted to let everyone know I am deciding to keep the car (at least for now lol).... Todd has been helping me a great deal in helping swap the parts to get it running again! I will have a Megasquirt computer available for sale most likely next week after swapping the computer. I can't wait to get it running again where I don't have to worry about tuning it really!!

Bond 02-19-2010 01:00 PM

I'll take your MS for the right price.

Miatamaniac92 02-19-2010 04:24 PM

Chris

goop 08-24-2010 01:04 PM

Back up for sale

BACK UP FOR SALE!!!!

I'm tired of having it still sitting in my garage haha so its back up for sale. I upped the price a little bit because I got some more work done on it and I want to at least get more of what I paid out of the car.

What I changed was switching out the megasquirt ECU for begi/fmu system for an easier tune (it should still get around 8-12psi). I will sale WITHOUT the megasquirt and new setup for $5000 OR WITH megasquirt setup for $5500.

It doesn't need much work at this point. It needs fuel injector gaskets, MAYBE (not sure) a new battery, and tuning of the megasquirt or tuning of the begi. I say it needs injector gaskets, because I changed injectors and tried to use different gaskets and lost 1 and when I started the car, fuel was leaking from them. It also needs a little tubing to better connect air filter to turbo. Thats all I know of it needs at this point and there are no other changes on the car other than whats listed above. Its been in my garage this whole time.

Please let me know about any serious inquiries or requests.

mazpr 08-24-2010 02:30 PM

Just install an APex-i silver color, tune with that and call it a day.

For such injectors and small displacement engine is a breeze to tune.
Besides the price seems high for 1.6...

Can I drive it to North Carolina?

goop 09-07-2010 12:45 PM

no, it needs some work... gaskets for the injectors put on, 1-2 hoses put on air filter, and other stuff put together, and tuning it... it is little stuff. if you do that, then i dont see why you couldnt drive it there
