Liberals refuse to acknowledge the conservatives issue with abortion. They can't allow it to be framed that way because the issue then becomes much more nuanced and they are generally incapable of nuance.

You should have went into the states rights side of the argument, just move to a shithole state if you want your abortion. Commiefornia will always allow it.

Side note my phone tries to autocorrect commiefornia to California lol

The person in question does, in fact, live in California.

While you're correct in that this really is a Tenth Amendment issue, I'm trying to speak the same language as the far-left folks here. They already don't care about the Constitution, so there's no more sense in my asking them a question about Constitutional law than there would be for my highly-religious mother pointing out what it says in the Bible about... anything. (Which she often does.)

The ultra-liberals constantly frame this issue as being about women's rights. So I thought it would be interesting to paint a version of the anti-abortion argument with that same brush.

And it apparently struck a nerve.

Oh, speaking of the left and the right, I've been trying to come up with a better-sounding pejorative for the far-left, something along the lines of their "Alt-right" term to describe folks at the Braineack-end of the spectrum.

Because calling them "liberals" just isn't correct. Liberalism, as a political philosophy, is all about individual liberty, equality before the law, consent of the governed, etc. Basically, all of the things which "liberals" in the 21st century oppose.

Here's something which I just now noticed, and it solved the problem perfectly, so I made a meme about it:

Most of my liberal friends/family are absolutely freaking out about it.

What I don't understand is the number of my friends who vote Republican seeing this as some big victory, as though they don't realize that this is going to cause a surge in democratic votes from leftists and moderates who see this as something out of Handmaid's Tale.

Lol meme on point. I generally say leftist, it doesn't quite have the ring that alt-right does but it gets the point across

I mean, I consider myself to be a liberal, but *not* in the sense that this term is used today. The far-left have appropriated the banner of liberalism as a disguise.

In the classical definition of the term, Liberalism means much the same thing as present-day Libertarianism, just without the fixation on anarchism as a panacea in much the same way as the far-left often fixates on the illusion of Marxist-style socialism as an ideal state of being.

Ctrl-left started out as a joke that occurred to me earlier today, but it actually does fit. Far-leftists believe that they, and they alone, should have control over what we think, what we say, what we eat, how we should work and what we should be paid, and the list goes on and on. They believe that they could create a perfect society if only individuals would stop wanting to have control over their own lives.

I can't decide whether Tucker Carlson is claiming that Putin conspired with the Democrats to overthrow himself, or that the Democrats tricked him into invading Ukraine.

Courtesy of a recent Washington Post article, this is a genuine, unedited photo of a far-leftist expressing a valid and reasonable political opinion.

This actually happened in the real world.

Also why are they so many sick people at that protest? Shouldn't they be quarantining themselves?

Have you seen the trailer for the new Buzz Lightyear movie?

The storyline, as I understand it, is that Pixar asked themselves "Back in the first Toy Story movie, from Andy's point of view, what was the movie that the Buzz Lightyear action figure was based on?" And then they decided to make that movie.

So, it's a film which exists inside the fictional world of another film. Very meta.

You're a Technologist Joe.
Biologists have racks of test tubes and microscopes
Technologists have pallets of servers.
You can call yourself anything you desire.
Still doesn't make it the truth...

The real question is, does he have to get a prostate exam?

Who, me?

Interesting question.

There have been a few edge-cases of trans-women complaining that gynecologists refuse to see them. They of course don't have any of the anatomy which a gynecologist specializes in treating, it's more of a "Look, I found something to be outraged about!" thing.

So, if I were to identify as female, I guess I wouldn't need one? Or maybe I could just be outraged by doctors telling me that I should have one.

I dunno how all that works.

I have actually never been to a doctor in all of my adult life. I mean, not voluntarily, anyway. I had to get to know a hand surgeon pretty well after losing a fist-fight with 39th street in 2014, and I visited a general surgeon once in 2015 when my appendix nearly exploded. And I think there was one follow-up office visit after I was released from the hospital after the pneumothorax in 2017. (That was a rough few years...)

But it's not like I've ever gone to visit a doctor when nothing was obviously wrong with me.

Well, that's not 100% true. I did go to a urologist exactly one time, because I wanted someone to snip my baby-hoses, and figured that was probably a wiser course of action to enlist the services of a professional rather than trying to do it myself.

Somewhere out there is a video of a dude very calmly and deliberately severing his own *****. And not like "here's a pair of scissors," I mean like he inserted a rigid catheter into his urethra, then spent a good several minutes very carefully and neatly severing the ***** with a small x-acto knife, and then cleanly sutured everything up around the catheter so that there was no visible bleeding.

There's another video of a different guy putting a rubber band around his whole scrotal sack, cutting it wide open, removing his own testes, cutting away most of the surplus flesh, and then doing a pretty neat job of suturing it all up so that it's just a smooth, flat area below his dick. Looked like a professional job, to be honest.

I can try and find the videos again if you like.

Point is that I'm not nearly as brave (or pain-tolerant) as those dudes when it comes to using a knife to cut into my own genitalia. So I did voluntarily go to see a doctor that one time.

I realize that I probably should get used to occasionally visiting a doctor aside from when I'm in excruciating pain / can't breathe / otherwise feel like death is imminent. And that eventually something which would have been preventable had I known about it will probably kill me. I'm choosing to ignore that and just hope that I get another 20 years out of this body, which to be honest is about all I think I'd really want anyway.

Question for men less-stubborn than I am. Is it considered good form to shave your entire аnаl region before visiting a proctologist? I'm... a hairy guy.

I did shave my anus once, several years ago, mostly as an experiment. I was curious as to whether it would provide increased comfort in warm weather. It very much did not. Instead, everything was sticky when I perspired, there was prickling, and it made my farts go *pop-pop-pop* or *sueeeeeeeeeeek*.

Totally impossible to discretely fart in an elevator when it's all just bare skin down there. I don't know why women (and men who aspire to be women) do it.

FWIW - I think staying away from doctors might be a wise course of action. Unless of course, like me, you’re married and have accepted that it’s a little easier and much cheaper to just make that appointment than deal with divorce lawyers.
I made it to 52 before esophageal spasms, which can feel a lot like a heart attack, tossed me into the Kafka-esque world of modern medicine. Years of 6-month follow-ups and increasingly invasive tests, including a memorable prostate biopsy, have demonstrated that I’m fine.
However, my health insurance is better than fine, so I have to continue demonstrating to my wife that I’m not so likely to make her a widow any time soon.

Other than my dot physicals, last time I was at the doctor was for head staples after a fight.
