It took this country many decades to repeat October 1929 but not 2008, apparently.
2008 sucked. I lost a ton of money by making stupid, panicked decisions that year.
2020, by comparison, was awesome. I'd learned lessons from past mistakes, and made some initially-scary decisions which ultimately turned out to be hugely profitable. Came within a cat's whisker of crossing the $1m mark (overall, not just that specific thing) before the consequences of the Trump / Biden knee-jerk reactionary policies finally reared their ugly head and dragged everything back down.
Double-bear funds are an interesting thing. They have the potential to completely bankrupt you in an instant. But when things are looking bad (combine electoral politics and borderline socialist economics into one hard-to-define hairball), and you happen to guess correctly, they can be a useful tool.

FDA approves Omicron “booster” jab before midterms without a single human test
Doctors and the media are questioning the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over its recent decision to approve the all-new “bivalent” booster shots for the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19), which have never been tested on humans.
The argument goes that the new shots vary so little from the older ones that they do not need to undergo any human clinical trials. This is the FDA’s argument after it rubber-stamped the latest injections at warp speed.
FDA Commissioner Robert Califf and Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research Director Peter Marks indicated that the federal agency used the same process for approving the new boosters that it uses to approve new annual flu shots.
“This is the number one question people are asking,” Califf said in a press conference.
Marks added that the FDA has “extensive experience in the past with strain changes made without clinical data based on the totality of available evidence.” (Related: Moderna’s own internal data shows that the shots are not effective against the Moronic subvariant of Chinese Germs.)
Zero downpayment, no minimum credit score, and also no limit as to the size of the loan.
If only we had some previous evidence as to what happens when you give out loans of arbitrary size to people whose financial history suggests an inability to repay them...
