Since President Obama Barack Obama came into office, the Code of Federal Regulations has increased by 11,327 pages -- a 7.4 percent increase from Jan. 1, 2009 to Dec. 31, 2011

The report also noted that since 2001, the page count in the Code of Federal Regulations has increased from 141,281 pages, a 20 percent increase during the last decade.

reduce thre number of employees all you want, but that doesnt change all the laws/powers gained and freedoms lost.

Seems the only ones in the Middle East trying not to kill Americans are the Jews. Now's probably a good time to cut 'em loose.

Which makes them a good ally. But we don't need to fight their wars for them nor should we tell them to give up their land...

In all seriousness, this guy needs to be in prison. When a Marine decides to beat up a Taxi driver, it shouldnt be a misdemeanor.

Edit:
Oh **** I thought this was the random pic thread.
-_-

Can someone move it or something.

Edit 2:
Whatever **** it, its a "Current Event"
Breaking news, Elementary school bully grows up, joins the marines, then beats the kid with glasses up so badly that he needs titanium plates in his face.
Heres hoping that he gets raped by an elephant with AIDS.

Romney's Team Turns On The Press

I'm loving this election, so much. It's now actually entertaining.

LOL, there's some good stuff in there.

After his response, I've seen an increase in the chance Obama will win across all of the aggregators/predictors I visit after Obama's chances started to steadily decline. That should illustrate how bad it was - Obama's over 80% chance to win in a large amount of sites I visit thanks to Romney's blunder.

/This is good for me, since I have skin in the game (Money on Obama winning), and at 54%-59% Obama winning, not at 80%

What book did you use, and what odds were they giving?

Right. The 'wat' comes from people blaming the media for something that Romney himself did.

"That damn liberal media keeps bashing George W Bush for invading Iraq, and that's just not fair!"

That said, I don't even think it was that big of a deal. I mean it was, but I think MANY presidential candidates would do the same. He thought he saw an easy way to hurt Obama. He took it. It backfired horribly.

Don't get me wrong, he deserves every bit of **** that has been thrown at him for this. But my cynical side tells me that in this day and age, something like this is becoming common. An isolated terrorist attack killed an American? ALL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL AND SO IS OBAMA BECAUSE HE IS A MUSLIM BLAH BLAH... I sorta expect it now.

Intrade - Home is my primary place, Mg.

I shorted the **** out of Romney and bet big time on Obama there and on similar sites as I mentioned earlier when the chances hit 75% on fivethirtyeight. The odds were ridiculously good - I'm in at $5.42 to $5.97 (About 54%-59% chance to win in their terms) for Obama at the time relative to the Obama predictions, and shorted at 42%-45% on Romney.

So...somewhere between -120 and -140, I guess? Much better than what the sportsbooks are offering on Obama now (at least -230 or -240). Nice!

Something like that. It sounds like you do a lot of betting yourself, although we definitely utilize different methods. I prefer the type of prediction/futures market of Intrade and similar to standard betting - I have a fair bit of experience with the former, and next to none in the latter.

The silly statements aside (If either wins, we're losing money. Romney's even said he wants to keep some of Obamacare now, which is .), yes. I bet extensively on political matters. It's part of what complicates my tax returns as I've alluded to in the past - I make a great deal of money off of them. It's also why I'm so fixated on fact politically instead of beliefs and/or opinions - facts make me money on this, beliefs/opinions don't.

I messed a little with sports betting. I decided after a while that it's extremely difficult to make any significant profit. The books are just too consistent. Other than just getting lucky on one big bet, you really have to make a lot of small bets over a long, long time, and even then if you are very careful you'll just barely be ahead of the rake. And one bad week will set you way back. Not worth it.

I do enjoy fantasy sports contests for money, though (like FanDuel, in my sig). Daily and weekly contests. There's a rake, but you're competing against other people, not against the book, so I don't have to win 55% of the time against professional Vegas books, just 55% of the time against other schmoes.

This is actually another reason I use sites such as Intrade. There are definitely Vegas bookies involved, but the majority aren't. As an example, as I noted above, if you can get info early enough and sweep in, you'll be able to get far better odds than you would otherwise, whereas the bookies you do not have this advantage with - they'll update their odds before you can place your bet.
