real news trigger by fake news:

Democrats on a CNN panel discussing Republican Karen Handel’s victory in the Georgia House special election were not happy when a Republican among them roasted their whining and insistence that last night wasn’t really a defeat for the Democratic Party.

“I love hearing the Democrats talk about this, because what they’re basically saying is they won a participation trophy for coming in a good second,” began John Brabender in reference to Democrats’ claims that last night’s closer-than-normal results should have Republicans on edge.

At this, the notorious Symone Sanders began shaking her head and muttering no.

Brabender continued, “the truth of the matter is, since Donald Trump got elected President, the Republicans in special elections are undefeated.

Sanders appeared visibly upset by this, while former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander simply smiled awkwardly as Brabender continued.

“What’s particularly interesting about this rase is more than any of the others, this took on a national election and Karen Handel was probably a couple points a week ago, ends up winning by five points, not even that close, and I think that she actually picked up numbers because Republicans wanted to show up and show there was not buyer’s remorse in voting for Donald Trump or his agenda.”

“So however you look at this, it was a good night for Republicans.”

As soon as Brabender stopped talking a furious Symone Sanders began ranting.

“I want to be clear, this was not a referendum on Donald Trump as we would have liked it to be,” she said, in disagreement with many of her fellow Democrats.

“What they ran on locally, was they ran on healthcare, they talked about the economy, those were the issues that they talked about. And the Republicans, frankly, they attacked Jon Ossoff and he didn’t attack back. This is not an indication that everybody is just happy with Donald Trump. People are not happy with Donald Trump.”

Don Lemon proceeded to share a shot of President Donald Trump’s abysmal approval rating and asked Jason Kander what he makes of those numbers despite the fact that Democrats keep losing in special elections.

“These are Republican districts,” Kander excused, adding, “the whole reason we’re talking about this right now is, people are curious about what this means for November of 2018.”

“What it means for November of 2018 is… Democrats are coming a whole lot closer to winning than they’ve ever come in these districts.”

religion of peace:

A 24-year-old Iranian man has reportedly been arrested in connection with a knife attack in Sweden not long after being released from prison, where he was serving time for his involvement in the live streaming of a gang rape.

According to Fria Tider, police responded to the report of a knife attack in Uppsala on Friday evening.

When they arrived, the outlet states, they found the suspect “who turned out to be the same 24-year-old Iranian who recently was convicted of involvement in the acclaimed Facebook rape.”

The man, in an apparent attempt to diversify his rap sheet, was allegedly attacking his own family with a knife. He allegedly proceeded to attack a police officer, landing him with charges of assault, attempted aggravated assault and assaulting a police officer.

Fria Tider further reports that the man, who is a Swedish citizen, was sentenced for aggravated defamation, minor drug offences and failure to report a rape.

The latter charge came in connection with his live streaming of his two friends in the act of raping a Swedish girl in an apartment. As The Sun reports, the horrific rape took place over three hours and was only stopped by the arrival of police, who had been tipped off by a viewer.

Given the horrific nature of the crime, it’s not clear why the 24-year-old cameraman was set free from prison early.

TIL in sweden, they love peace so much, that when someone rapes a girl and live streams it, it's no big deal.

eithics in news:

The Wall Street Journal has reportedly fired its chief foreign affairs correspondent Jay Solomon after discovering talks of a commercial deal between him and an Iranian-born arms dealer who served as a key source in his journalistic work.

According to The Associated Press (AP), Solomon “was offered a 10 percent stake in a fledgling company, Denx LLC, by Farhad Azima, an Iranian-born aviation magnate who has ferried weapons for the CIA.”

AP states that it is not clear whether or not Solomon ever actually accepted the stake or received money from Azima.

However, the outlet claims to have obtained numerous messages sent between Solomon and Azima over the course of 18 months. In one of those messages, Solomon reportedly told Azima, “our business opportunities are so promising.”

In another, Azima told Solomon of a proposal for a $725 million contract with the United Arab Emirates.

TIL if there's grass on the field: game on.

An imam who married a 14-year-old girl to a man nearly twice her age will reportedly avoid jail time.

As 9News reports, imam Ibrahim Omerdic – who has since been dismissed by the mosque he served at – was arrested in November and accused of marrying a young girl to a 34-year-old man in Australia.

Even though the Omerdic was initially sentenced to two months in jail, The Mirror reports that he was immediately placed on a “two-year recognizance release order,” which will keep him from serving his time in the slammer.

Mohammad Shakir, the man who married the 14-year-old, also took a plea deal to squash rape charges against him involving the 14-year-old.

"Nearly twice her age?"

14 * 2 = 28. 34 is more than 28.

Hell, even New York outlawed child marriage several weeks ago. Yes, serious: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/08/n...gislature.html

This pretty well sums up why the US seceded from Great Britain in the first place. What scares me is how many comments from Americans can be summarized as "Why can't we get that kind of justice here?" Why? Because Bill of Rights.

UK man faces more than a year behind bars for using Facebook ‘to express his hatred for Muslims’
Posted at 10:48 pm on June 21, 2017 by Brett T.

As Twitchy reported, London was shocked by another apparent terror attack Sunday night when a van ran into a crowd of pedestrians outside of the mosque at Finsbury Park, killing one.

Darren Osborne was arrested and held on suspicion of the commission, preparation, and instigation of terrorism, attempted murder, and murder following the incident, but his fate won’t be known for a while.

Sussex Police, however, announced in an unrelated development Tuesday that Nigel Pelham, 50, had been sentenced Friday to serve 20 months for each of eight counts of using Facebook to publish threatening written material intended to stir up religious hatred against Muslims.

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...07a1216ab1.png

Sussex Police Hate Crime Sergeant Peter Allan said that Pelham had used Facebook between February and November of 2015 “to express some truly offensive views, with no understanding of how serious his actions were,” cautioning that police “will not tolerate this type of behaviour and will act when someone reports their concern about what someone is posting.”

The Argus reports that Pelham suggested Britain should introduce “bomb a mosque day” and invited his Facebook followers to “put a Muslim on top of a bonfire.”
