oh CNN, it's like you can't even stop yourselves.

CNN host Michael Smerconish has chosen to double down on supporting his network’s threats towards an anonymous Reddit user that created a WWE-themed GIF mocking CNN.

If the user “continues to be racist, if he continues to be a bigot, if he continues to be anti-Semitic” his identity should be revealed, Smerconish said in a video uploaded to Facebook.

He also attacked internet anonymity as a whole by claiming “anonymity gives people beer muscles for bad behavior.”

“I disagree with CNN’s handling of this, not for having threatened to identify the individual, but for not having already identified the individual,” said Smerconish on a radio show earlier this week.

“When you promote hate in the blogosphere… you attract the President… you’re now a story, and you sacrifice any right to privacy that you otherwise would have had,” he said.

“They need to be reined in,” he said in conclusion. “The hate speech, the coarse dialogue has had a disastrous impact on our political conversation, and our ability to elect individuals who are willing and able to get along and get things done.”

“It’s time to rein in the bad behavior, and nasty anonymous comments are a big part of the problem — but they’re one that we can address and one that we can solve. So, in this case, I think this individual sacrificed his right to privacy. That’s my view.”

I think it would be great if someone posted Michael Smerconish's home address, phone numbers, and all his email accounts online, just to see how comfortable he is with that.

A few days ago, I caught a cringey NPR piece about how trolls (who are all Trump supporters of course) did basically that.
The whole piece was about how trolls are "hateful bigots", and they (NPR) actually supported CNN's position that online meanness should be censored.
There was no talk about how most outlets have closed their comments section because they were repeatedly getting called out for bullshit stories and inaccurate information.

Ask CNN about Richard Jewell. Yes, look up his Wikipedia page if you don't know who that is.

Another reminder that "hate speech" is code language clearing the way for Marxist purges.

Bilal Abdul Kareem, an alleged al-Qaeda propagandist, claims CNN contracted him to film a documentary titled ‘Undercover In Syria,’ only to distance themselves from him once the finished product received accolades.

According to AlterNet, Kareem made the claim via a video uploaded to Twitter in which he states, “this ‘Undercover In Syria,’ you can Google it – it won the prestigious Peabody Award, and it won the prestigious Overseas Press Club Award, which are basically the highest awards in journalism for international reporting.”

In the clip, Kareem continues, “now [CNN] barely mentioned my name! I’m telling you, somehow CNN must have forgotten that I was the one that filmed it, I guess they forgot that.”

As AlterNet reports, “Kareem’s name was a mere footnote in the Peabody Awards press releaseon its honoring of CNN.”

This despite the fact that Kareem was allegedly the source of CNN’s ground-level footage for the documentary.

Further, AlterNet reports, “CNN later touted in a press release that celebrated the access [reporter Christine] Ward was granted to eastern Aleppo by the Islamist insurgents that had controlled it.”

“The network noted that her work resulted in her being invited to testify before the United Nations Security Council. But CNN made no mention of Abdul Kareem’s role in the special.”Taken at face value, everything reported so far might make one feel pretty bad for Kareem, who appears to have been taken advantage of by the media monolith that is CNN.

A British-Muslim radio station has reportedly been suspended after it was caught broadcasting al-Qaeda recruitment speeches for 25 hours straight during Ramadan.

According to The Independent, the station in question goes by the name Iman FM and allegedly played material from Anwar Al-Awlaki – a man whose work allegedly inspired atrocities like the Charlie Hebdo massacre.

The Independent states that the voice of Al-Awlaki – who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in 2011 – could be heard on Iman FM on June 14.

A subsequent investigation by Ofcom, the United Kingdom’s government-appointed broadcasting and telecommunications regulator, concluded that Iman FM’s airing of Al-Awlaki’s material “amounted to a direct call to action to members of the Muslim community to prepare for and carry out violent action against non-Muslim people.”

As a result, The Independent states, Ofcom suspended Iman FM’s license and gave the station’s executives 21 days to explain themselves.

In response, Metro reports, Iman FM’s chief executive Mohammad Mughal stated, “this is very, very sad because none of us had any idea this lecture was preaching hatred.”

this is acceptable abortion for liberals (and islam):

A Chicago woman was sentenced to four years of PROBATION for throwing her newborn baby out the window.

According to ABC 7, Mubashra Uddin threw the innocent child, who had just been born, from the window due to the fact that she was unwed – a big no-no in the Muslim faith.

Uddin reportedly somehow hid the pregnancy from her family, giving birth in her room moments before murdering the infant.

ABC 7 reports on the horrible injuries the baby suffered from the fall that led to her death.

Assistant State’s Attorney Patrick Turnock said the infant had suffered skull fractures, a spinal fracture, broken left shoulder, fractured left and right ribs, and a lacerated aorta, as well as damage to other internal organs, prosecutors have said.

According to the ABC 7 report, the infant’s life was short and tragic.

Uddin, a Muslim of Pakistani descent, hid the pregnancy from her parents because she thought they wouldn’t approve, Turnock said.

The only people who knew were her boyfriend-who her parents didn’t approve of; and another friend. She hid the pregnancy by wearing baggy clothes and never sought prenatal care.

Uddin gave birth to a 7-pound, 11-ounce girl in her bedroom at 11:20 p.m. while her 10-year-old sister slept in the same room, Turnock said.

Minutes later, Uddin heard her mother approaching the room, so she opened the window, held the baby out head first and released her, according to the prosecutor.

Remarkably, despite Uddin’s horrid actions, ABC 7 states that she pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter and received an incredibly lenient sentence, with some friends still standing by her.

Judge Carol Howard sentenced Uddin to 48 months’ probation and ordered her to pay a $579 fine. She was given credit for 603 days served in the Cook County Jail.

“At that moment she probably wasn’t thinking and she cracked … because the Mubashra I know wouldn’t do something like this if she was in right state of mind,” Uddin’s childhood friend, “Nina O,” wrote in a letter to Cook County Judge James Brown.

“Standing before you is someone who is heartbroken and sad. … She is a confused, older teenager,” her attorney Barry Sheppard said at her bond hearing. “She’s extremely contrite. She’s saddened. She’s been crying.”

A former school counselor described Uddin as a model student and a “sweetheart.”

Four points occur to me...

1: Abortion is legal in the US.

2: Usually, when a young women is tried for some heinous crime against a child, I think to myself "Yeah, but she's kinda hot." Not the case here.

3: 603 days? Holy cow! Sixth Amendment much?

4: Cook County. 'Nuff said. I mean, earlier this year, the city of Markham elected a convicted felon as mayor. And if you look up the list of United States local officials convicted of federal corruption offenses, Cook County (and Chicago, in particular) wins by a mile.

How about a brief step away from politics for a look at some current events...

Biological annihilation via the ongoing sixth mass extinction signaled by vertebrate population losses and declines

While P.R.E. has made some dire predictions in the past that have not come to fruition, it is hard to read the paper and not think that there is at least some amount of likelihood in it.

C'mon. Jersey showed up to represent, but Chicago raised the roof!

Still, Anthony Russo and Peter Cammarano represent.
