Some people are really lost in selfishness and hatred.
Ignorance is in them because of the hardness of their hearts.

I feel compassion for those who have been lost and for those who mourn them.

Wait, this is brilliant. I'm not sure if you can actually see what a beautifully simple solution you've proposed.

We need more government!

A fairly decent video of the opening volley:

They say that, but when FEMA disappoints them about a territory that doesn't pay taxes, they unleash on Trump and then still demand more govt to help.

Needless to say, it's been an interesting morning here in the WGN newsroom. Glad I've got a team of real pros here to handle all the chaos in terms of remote feeds, stories getting moved around and bumped, keeping us on schedule...

Serious question here...do they not make the shot that came from a decent distance much more...silent? I do not know much about guns.

Braineack 10-02-2017 11:44 AM

the are designed to help you from going deaf as a shooter, not to completely silence a shot like seen in the movies. they reduce the sound by a portion of dB by something like 20%.

it still doesn't address the issue that crazy people want to kill us -- because the vast majority of people who own guns aren't using them to kill others with.

Sad day and I pray for those involved. As an enthusiast in California I dread the new laws political actors are going to push.

Besusjesus 10-02-2017 11:50 AM

Interesting. The more you know....

It slows the expansion of gases at the muzzle end of a firearm. Most rounds are supersonic and there ain't no way to cut that sound of a sonic boom. Suppressors do more for the shooter in terms of safety for decimal levels at the action of the firearm. Does it cut the amount of sound heard at say the point of impact? Certainly, but it is not nearly as dramatic as it is made out to be in popular culture. If you take a second and think about what drive popular culture a big part of that is media- movies, TV and the msm. All three of those have an agenda and that's entertainment and making money not spreading factual information.

I think someone called me heartless once cause I don't like the idea of oppressing a minority group in order for the majority to have cool things...

So is this the first mass shooting with a truly fully-auto gun? It sounded like it sputtered a few times maybe it was one of those bump fire stocks?

Braineack 10-02-2017 02:18 PM

he had a lot of rifles, and semi-auto can be fired very fast. people are also dumb.

what I'm trying to figure out is why cant people just commit suicide like this anymore:

Man apparently jumped from helicopter to his death off Malibu coast, authorities say - LA Times

I am by no means a firearms expert, but based on the audio in the recording taken from the balcony area, my impression is that this was a fully-automatic rifle.

In what was is that relevant to anything? Probably isn't since, you know, full-auto rifles are all but illegal.

I expect we'll soon hear people talking about select-fire conversion kits.
