In what was is that relevant to anything? Probably isn't since, you know, full-auto rifles are all but illegal.

I expect we'll soon hear people talking about select-fire conversion kits.

A few people I have talked to about this who are more into guns were saying it sounded more like bump shooting, then being fully auto. Their rational was that full auto sort of has a rhythm or consistent firing speed, while from the video's they had watched, it seemed like the speed of firing sped up and down slightly. Or they were thinking it was semi-auto firearms badly machined to be fully auto.

Yeah if you listen to the videos you know it's not just "a semi-auto being shot really fast." Crank trigger makes sense you can hear the ROF speed up and slow down for a few cycles. I just bought a bump fire stock and crank trigger today because I know they'll be next on the ban list.

mitymazda 10-02-2017 02:56 PM

Both of which are next to useless. Aimed controlled fire is where it is at. Full auto is for suppressing fire. Regardless millions of firearms are out there every day and more often then not they are used to protect rather then harm. I expect people to go full retard on this very fast. Bumpfire/slide fire are toys for enthusiasts and are not an issue. People will look at the guns when evil is the issue here.

Braineack 10-02-2017 03:26 PM

both are illegal. so like how did he do it?!

vitamin j 10-02-2017 03:33 PM

No, they are legal as they still only result in 1 shot per 1 trigger pull. They've been on the ax-list for a few years now but are still legal. Unfortunately they are not useless for this type of crime.

EXCLUSIVE: CBS Legal Exec Fired | The Daily Caller

A top legal executive at CBS was fired Monday for comments she made on a Facebook post that was first reported by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing,” Geftman-Gold wrote on Facebook, ostensibly referring to Sandy Hook. “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”

The reaction to her comments from CBS was swift.

Joe, you know better, but some people in this thread may not. I'll fill in the blanks.

Machine guns are illegal in (I think 12) some states. Of the states that allow ownership, there are restrictions that prohibit hunting with them and a few other things, but "mostly" there is nothing different about owning a machine gun as any other gun. The background check the ATF performs for a transfer is the same as for any other gun except it's performed manually buy a person rather than automatically by a computer. Sometimes a manual check reveals something not caught in a auto-check, but it's usually a matter of paperwork and not a disqualifying issue. Basically, if you can buy a regular gun, you can buy a machine gun.

You wouldn't say a Beech Staggerwing is "all but illegal" just because they are relatively rare and expensive.

Here's the Gunbroker spread... everything from an Uzi to a MaDeuce... how much money you got, and can you wait 8 months for the background check to clear? Plenty to choose from. Some people in this forum have more money in a bicycle than it takes to buy a machine gun.

Fox news stated it was an illegally modified ar15

Girz0r 10-02-2017 05:16 PM

I usually stay out of this thread, but fwiw it sounds like a crank style from the audio. :2cents: *loads next magazine*, and cranks away.

Yes, Google gat crank. Turns an ar15 into a simulated full auto by turning the little crank. In the video at the base of the hotel, the cyclic rate fluctuates like a crank would do.

If gun control is not the answer, what is? Or is this something that you will just live with - so many music fans this time, so many children another time, students, ... and so on into the future?

We had a tragedy, we did something. It seems to have worked to date, if it stops working hopefully we will do something to make it work again. What we did might not work for you, but we did something.

You have had tragedies too, and now another. Yet nothing seems to happen in response? Attempts at gun control are derided and opposed from within the gun community, without (it appears) any recognition that something might/could/should/must be done to avoid repeat events.

Is there no sense of community amongst gun owners? I mean that gun owners recognise the misuse of guns, the effects of this misuse, and the need for the community to act to protect itself? And that gun owners should be inside the tent, being part of the solution (if only to protect their interests).

I don't have answers for you, but I would have expected that you could find some answers for yourselves. In the absence of answers, it is self-evident that these events will be repeated, and that the only conclusion is that America is content to tolerate them as a price for ... something.

We have to be able to defend ourselves from crazies liberals.

Girz0r 10-02-2017 08:41 PM

@Emm, AUS vs USA - :2cents: "Doing" anything about it won't stop the gun violence. We're in too deep. IMO, it makes more sense to train everyday people about guns, encourage conceal carry where permitted.

This is a joke, right?

Who did the defending here - the police, the State.

You want anarchy on the streets? Disarming of the police? No a solution I see working, and I would not want to be visiting/living in such a place.

Braineack 10-02-2017 08:50 PM

Liberals are the ones practicing anarchy in the streets. Gun toting Republicans are busy watching country music festivals.

Liberals want to dearm law abiding citizens so they can revolt, take over, then starve everyone to death.

It is a problem.

I don't know what the solution is, but I doubt that arming the citizenry is it. "We have a (gun) problem, and we are going to throw more guns at it" doesn't ring my bells, but I see it is sometimes put forward. Whatever the solution is, I hope it is found soon, and the bloodshed minimised.
