I get it. It's just... are Kia Soul owners really that much drowsier than, I dunno, Subaru Impreza owners? Or is the Impreza just really that much better-made of a car?

For that matter, why is the Mitsu Lancer on that list and the Impreza isn't? They're pretty much the same vehicle, insofar as stereotypes are concerned.

if we only had common sense gun legislation that would keep guns out of the hands of those who shouldn't have them and those under 21:

Man charged after Heights party-goer shot to death while wearing bulletproof vest

Jason Griffin, 39, has also been charged with felon in possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of body armor.

god if we were only just like the rest of the world:

Jokes made by a 32-year-old woman on Facebook may cost her two years in jail.

The Swedish newspaper Friatider reported the Gothenburg resident has been charged with “talking in a negative or threatening way about a group of people,” after posting cartoons poking fun at Islam on her Facebook page, according to police.

One cartoon featured a mugshot of a supposed Islamic terrorist having his brain removed and replaced with feces, under the caption “How to Make a Muslim.”

Facebook users reported her to police who began a preliminary investigation. She underwent what was described as a “degrading” interrogation and samples of her DNA were taken for the record. The woman apologized during a police hearing and she protested that she had nothing against Muslims, but aimed the jokes at ISIS, report Voice of Europe.

“I read a lot and looked a lot at documentaries about IS and how they treated people. I didn’t mean it in a bad way,” the woman pleaded. Later she added that her, “best friend is Muslim so I don’t have a problem Muslims.”

Gothenburg’s prosecutor, Sara Toreskog, decided to move forward with the charges and prosecute the woman for “hate speech.”

Sweden has taken on more Islamic migrants than any other European nation. In 2015, over 163,000 people applied for asylum. U.K. brexit leader Nigel Farage pointed out that Sweden is now the “rape capitol of Europe.”

“Sweden has taken in more young male migrants than any other country in Europe and there has been a dramatic rise in sexual crime in Sweden. So much so, that Malmo is now the rape capital of Europe, and some argue that perhaps it is the rape capital of the world. And there is a Swedish media who frankly just don’t report it,” said Farage.

oh hey look at that, illegals arent american citizens:

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news...term=146470022

Immigrants being held for deportation don’t have an automatic right under the law to post bond and be set free, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Tuesday in a decision that could give the Trump administration more freedom to pursue stiff detention policies for illegal immigrants who show up at the border claiming asylum.

In the 5-3 ruling, the justices also took a dim view of the kinds of class-action lawsuits on behalf of immigrants that have become a key tool for anti-Trump immigrant rights activists, leaving the activists worried about the fates of other cases winding their way through the lower courts challenging President Trump on issues such as illegal immigrant Dreamers and Iraqi deportees.

The ruling was also a rebuke by the high court to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, which had its decision overturned.

Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. chided the 9th Circuit for ignoring the text of immigration laws and creating a legal standard for bail hearings “out of thin air” by requiring that immigrants be given periodic bail hearings.

“Spotting a constitutional issue does not give a court the authority to rewrite a statute as it pleases,” Justice Alito wrote for the majority.

So, if a cake maker can't refuse to make a cake for a protected class, and a photographer can't refuse to take wedding photos for a protected class, can Dicks lawfully refuse to sell a lawful item to a protected class?

Oregon: 20-Year-Old Sues Dick's Sporting Goods for Refusing to Sell Rifle | Breitbart

Ruger .22 rifle purchase based on his age.

The plaintiff, Tyler Watson, claims he faced “Unlawful Age Discrimination.”

Watson attempted to buy the rifle “on or about February 24” at a Medford, Oregon, Field and Stream store. (Field and Stream is subsidiary of Dick’s.) Watson’s suit, filed in the Circuit Court of Oregon for the County of Jackson, says a store employee refused the purchase and indicated, “He would not sell [Watson] any firearm, including rifles and shotguns, or ammunition for a firearm, because [Watson] is under 21 years old.”

The employee referenced Dick’s recent policy shift, disallowing firearm sales to anyone under 21, and cited the policy as the reason for denying the sale.

Watson’s suit alleges that Dick’s policy violates Oregon law against age-based discrimination for people 18 years and older in places of public accommodations. State law includes prohibitions against discrimination in stores that are open to the general public.

I’m going to take a stab at this and say being under 21 isn’t a “protected class”. Also, as Dick’s is saying all people under xx age are unable to purchase, and more importantly, they can do whatever they want. It’s their company.

You can discriminate against young people? Pretty sure that's illegal.

http://www.wweek.com/news/business/2...mination-laws/

But Jim Hargreaves, a retired Lane County judge, points out the state law that protects people from being discriminated against based on race, gender and religion. It also protects people from discrimination based on age—as long as a person is a legal adult, they can't be barred from anything that's available to the public.

And because Oregon law says that any person over 18 can buy a firearm, the stores that refuse to sell guns to 18, 19 and 20-year-olds could face legal challenges.

"They can't set their own age limit because the statute has already done that," Hargreaves says. "They don't have any authority because the statute specifically says you can't as a merchant discriminate against either young people or old people. If you're selling something you have to sell it to anyone who is entitled to buy it by law."

I was thinking “protected class” with respect to housing/employment law etc.

Chiburbian 03-05-2018 08:34 PM

They are free to do that. I wouldn't fault them. Lost of stores like Walmart and Meier don't sell ammo anymore, or at least not in all geographic areas.

Walmart is still the cheapest place to buy common caliber ammo here.

I found it hilarious that, in upstate NY, the spray paint was kept in a locked cage, while the ammunition and smokeless powder were just sitting around on a shelf.

Last I heard spray paint is illegal to sell (period) in the city of Chicago.

When spray paint becomes illegal, only the criminals will have spray paint.

This is true. You gotta drive out to the 'burbs, and some online vendors won't sell it to you if your ship-to address is within city limits.

Surprisingly little, actually, as compared to LA / NYC / Baltroit, etc. I have never, for instance, seen a subway car (or subway stop) here that had been tagged. Part of that is due to the city aggressively repairing said damage, but when I say "never" I literally mean "not one single instance."

We still have rustoleum in cans, and that seems to suffice for people to ruin antique furniture with.
