In 2012, Oklahoma state senator Ralph Shortey (R) introduced a bill outlawing "food or any product intended for human consumption which contains aborted human fetuses."

More recently, of course, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for soliciting prostitution from a 17 year old boy. "The younger the better," according to one post on Craigslist.

What is it with Republican legislators and wanting to have gay sex with child-prostitutes, and being convinced that the liberal agro-medical complex are conspiring to sprinkle fetus-meat into your Taco Bell value meal?

The fact that folks like this get elected to office is why the idea of having a King has lasted for so long.

I'm still missing the connection to the screenshot. Could you spoon-feed it to me? (Assume that I don't keep up to date on the latest conspiracy theories.)

Took me a while. Just read the wife's responses, top to bottom.

Yes, I got that. Another Epstein meme.

I still fail to understand the root of why everyone is so fascinated by this one specific conspiracy theory about a pedophile who either committed suicide or was murdered while in prison.

Has there been some recent development which makes this case interesting / relevant?

People just don't want it to die [no pun intended], because it seems the truth has died along with him.

Well, then that's easy. Don't be a criminal.

Not being a criminal reduces your likelihood of death by non-natural-causes considerably.

Edit: sorry, I see you wrote "... don't want IT to die." I initially read that as "... don't want to die," which is a perfectly reasonable thing not to want. The fact that it was reasonable should have been a red-flag to me that this wasn't what you meant.

I'm still trying to figure out what "it" is.

because it seems the truth has died along with him.
What truth would that be?

After three days, Epstein rose from the grave and ascended to heaven. We merely need to wait for him to start appearing on slices of toast, to know the truth.

I agree, it's very possible that I am.

I *think* the point is "a convicted child-molester was murdered while in prison, and we don't know who did it, but I have a theory, and we'll never know if it's true. But it is."

Is that sort of in-range?

the bigger point is people were hoping he'd spill the beans on his pedo ring and out everyone, including his murder. but close.

The Clinton Foundation has confirmed it accepted a $1 million gift from Qatar while Hillary Clinton was U.S. secretary of state without informing the State Department, even though she had promised to let the agency review new or significantly increased support from foreign governments.

Speaking of Epstein, for me the strangest part of the whole mess is where he actually got his money.

I have always been of the opinion that if you follow the money you will find out the truth.
With that amount of money that seems to be untraceable as being derived from a business venture it sure feels like some clandestine government project to get dirt on every politician possible.
Sort of a modern day version of the J Edgar Hoover files that he personally kept on everybody important.

I also can't see that Epstein would have been arrested in the manner he was this last time unless a bunch of compromised politicians (Clinton?) have assurances that the dirt he had was secured and safely hidden from prying eyes.

@Joe Perez 's buddy Chris must have a different interpretation of what picking a side means.

It's Donald Trump vs. George Washington

Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large
Updated 3:23 PM ET, Thu December 12, 2019

...

Overall, 7 in 10 say that George Washington was the better president while 15% picked Trump. But among GOPers it's far closer -- with 44% choosing Washington and 37% naming Trump.

Stop for a minute. Read that last sentence again. Almost 4 in 10 Republicans told a pollster that Donald Trump is a better president than George Washington. The same George Washington who led the country's armed forces to victory over the British, helped found our country and then walked away from office after two terms even though he could have kept getting elected for as long as he wanted.

Now, I should add that Democrats showed even higher levels of retrospective appreciation for former President Barack Obama, who they chose over George Washington by 63% to 29%. Which is also a stunning number! (And one we didn't notice in the crosstabs until later). But the fact that Trump, three years into his first term and midway through a House impeachment process, is being compared to Washington at such favorable levels definitely tells us something about how his party views him.

While the poll question is, admittedly, a little ridiculous, it does provide a useful way into understanding just how rote the fealty is to Trump within the ranks of the Republican Party at the moment.

To compare Washington, one of our greatest presidents in the eyes of, well, everyone, to a first-term president whose tenure has been defined by record low approval numbers and a redefining what it means to hold the office (and not in a good way) is laughable.

Except not to Trump's supporters -- or Trump!

In fact, while the 45th President usually compares himself -- mostly favorably! -- to Abraham Lincoln, he's also been known to cite his similarities with George Washington.

And then there was the time in April 2018 when Trump visited Washington's home at Mount Vernon as part of his meetings with French president Emmanuel Macron. During a tour of the property, Trump reportedly remarked of Mount Vernon and Washington: "If he was smart, he would've put his name on it. You've got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you."

So true!

Make no mistake: Trump views himself as a great man of history. And that view was affirmed -- hugely -- when he was elected, against all odds, to the presidency. What's amazing -- at least to me -- is that so many Republicans have turned into unquestioning supporters of Trump to the point where 4 in 10 go on record to say he is a better president than George Washington!Stunning stuff.

UPDATE: This story has been updated to add a reference to data in the Monmouth poll that shows that Democrats picked former President Barack Obama over George Washington by 63% to 29%.

Seriously? The money is very easy to trace. It leads to Wall St.

Epstein got his start at Bear Stearns Capital in the 70s, then started his own financial consulting firm in the early 80s, while doing that he also worked as a consultant for Tower Financial, and then he founded his own financial management firm, J. Epstein & Company.

In the 80s and 90s, big finance companies were cranking out multi-millionaires left and right. There's nothing suspicious I can see about the source of Epstein's Millions.

to be fair he said he had no evidence the opening of initial investigation was biased, albeit the most minuscule of legal grounds, like the bare minimum; but everything else was.
