Breaking news:
CNN just described the debate as "Shit Show" on live TV. Actually, this would be broken news. They broke the decorum of the Presidency. |
Wtf CNN with honest news? World is ending.

What's your flavor?

I'll take comb over before senile.

Rum raisin. I know that this is an unpopular opinions among many, but rum raisin ice cream is just such a perfect blend of sweet and savory. It confuses the palette, to some extent, rather than just overpowering you with a single, dominant note. I'm not saying it's the only good flavor, merely that I happen to appreciate it in particular. Who "won" this first debate? Nobody. The United States lost. |

People often think that it's not legal to use profanity on TV in the United States. And that is true, under most circumstances, on broadcast TV. On cable, however, the FCC has no jurisdiction whatsoever as to content. It's a whole different set of rules, since the bandwidth used by cable is not a scare public commodity in the same way that the over-the-air spectrum is. On the whole, a gentleman's agreement exists among cable TV channels that we will not abuse that fact, and more or less self-regulate as to profane or obscene content. But in this case, she's dead-on. That was a shit-show. To call it anything less would be a miscarriage of journalism. The only sad thing tonight is that one of those two buffoons is more than likely going to wind up being elected President in November. |
Also, why the hell is one-third of the population of this conversation a Turkish guy?
I say that somewhat self-consciously, as I get the fact that US politics is both strategically significant across the globe, and also a form of political theater for the more advanced nations. But, still. @Godless Commie , was this event actually paid attention to in Istanbul? |
I personally think we should go full isolationist and ignore/stop dealing with other countrys as much as we can. Most of them are assholes.

Chris Wallace: Mr President let him finish.
Biden: He doesn't know how to do that. Trump: You'd be surprised ;) Did Trump just come out of the closet on national TV? I believe it was between the 10-20 minute mark in the debate. |
Oh it's truly sad that these two buffoons are the "best" America were able to come up with.
I'm glad I didn't have a bottle of Jameson in the house. If I had been playing along to any of the numerous drinking games I saw shared, I suspect by about an hour in I would have been on the way to the emergency room to have my stomach pumped. |

I mean, seriously? I'd love to see how that would work out for the US. Other countries would just celebrate such a decision. |

We have to keep OPEC and the world trading oil in US Dollars. If it started trading in Yuan, for example, the US economy would fall off a cliff faster than Wile E. Coyote. |
I enjoyed it, but I had some really good IPAs on hand.
Trump wanted an actual debate, but Chris Wallace kept coming to Biden's rescue. Although Trump came off as a bully, I don't want a pansy for a President. I believe Biden would have completely lost it if Wallace hadn't stepped in. It was clear to me that Biden doesn't really know what his party is doing/planning, like rioting and the Green New Deal. I'd like to see a format where they can ask each other questions. Two minutes to respond. One minute to rebut. 30 seconds for a counter volley. Then, next question. Trump would eat Biden alive. This was a good read... https://www.zerohedge.com/political/...te-post-mortem |

Other countries would just celebrate such a decision. The US has been operating at a net trade deficit since the late 1970s, and the deficit-per-year has been growing. Effectively, we consume more than we produce. This is great for certain of our trade partners, as it means they are getting to operate at a net trade surplus. Effectively, they are putting our money in their bank. Now, some might point to this as proof that isolationist policies would be beneficial to the US. If we were to wave a magic wand and suddenly start up US production and ban foreign imports, the immediate result of that would be some combination of increased consumer pricing and decreased wages. Which... is the whole reason that so much manufacturing is done elsewhere in the first place. Cat unrelated: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...ba57f60193.png |

^^ It probably wouldn't be a good idea to give a neg cat to an administrator, right?
(asking for a friend) |
Even without getting into the trade implications. There would likely be several dozen wars the second we pull our carrier groups home.
