ADMINISTRATORS OF STATE-RUN NURSING HOME IN MASSACHUSETTS INDICTED OVER COVID DEATHS by Kevin Ryan Two former administrators of a Massachusetts veterans’ facility have been indicted on charges of criminal neglect in connection to the coronavirus deaths of at least 76 residents at the facility. Former Superintendent Bennett Walsh and former Medical Director Dr. David Clinton are both facing charges that they accelerated the spread of the disease at The Soldiers’ Home, a nursing facility for aging veterans, by placing COVID patients in wards with healthy residents. “We allege that the actions of these defendants during the Covid-19 outbreak at the facility put veterans at higher risk of infection and death and warrant criminal charges,” the state attorney general, Maura Healey, said. “They risked their lives from the beaches of Normandy to the jungles of Vietnam…It’s truly heartbreaking to think how the veterans of this facility suffered and lost their lives.” Superintendent Walsh was fired by Gov. Charlie Baker in June after an investigation determined that erroFirstrs made by the superintendent and his leadership team helped the disease run rampant at the home. In late March, staff moved infected Covid-19 veterans and healthy residents into a ward together. “The residents in the consolidated unit were allegedly mingling together, regardless of Covid-19 status,” the attorney general’s office said. Nursing homes have been the site of up to 40% of the country’s COVID fatalities, with poor decisions by state leaders and administrators often exacerbating the problem. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan required nursing homes to admit COVID-19 patients to their vulnerable populations, a fact which the Justice Department has recently begun an inquiry into. |

I have fantasized quite a lot lately about how different things would be if more private citizens owned military-style drone aircraft capable of being easily controlled (such as via a smartphone app), and of delivering incendiary / fragmentation weapons into areas in which large numbers of the surplus population have congregated for the purpose of violent lawlessness. |
Joe you should just leave that shithole state/city.
Or at least buy a cc piece. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6 and whatnot. |

In my line of work, you really don't have a lot of freedom to choose where you want to be. Jobs at this level become available infrequently, and when one is offered to you, if you choose to accept it, then that's that. NYC, LA, Chicago, and Atlanta. Those are the places where network TV happens. I've done NY and LA already, and have no desire whatever to be in Atlanta. But it's not as though I can say "I choose to move to Austin, TX," and then expect to be able to find a decent job there. In this way, I often envy people whose chosen vocation affords them that sort of portability. It is, quite frankly, one of the most significant factors which drove me to drop out of broadcasting altogether and attend law school some years ago. That, of course, proved to be a poor decision overall, and so here I am. |
