Arkansas mother Karen Lamoreaux became famous on YouTube for her demolition of Common Core in just a few minutes as she cheekily presented a Common Core math problem to her state school board, asking its members to solve it.

How stupid.

Baseball Team Forced To Tear Down Bleachers After Softball Team Complains

Plymouth High School’s (Mich.) baseball team parents only wanted two things for this upcoming season (aside from a winning season): a new scoreboard and a comfortable set of raised bleachers to watch games from. And they got both of those things by doing what any public high school sports team does when they want nice things: they raised the money themselves. Not only that, the parents did all the construction. Everything was ready to go in time for the new season — until some helicopter parent(s) swooped in and single-handedly took it all away.

A complaint was filed with the U.S Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights on behalf of the girl’s softball team, claiming the disparity between the softball and baseball fields was so great that it violated a law stating sports facilities for boys and girls must be equal (in this case: literally an “even playing field”). The civil rights folks agreed, and issued a citation to the school, which forced them to remove the bleachers until a solution could be found.

I'm still trying to figure out where in the article it says the girl's softball team was prevented from raising their own money and constructing their own bleachers which caused a violation of equal rights.

But Scott, leftists never actually want equal opportunities, but equal outcomes. Shared suffering over individual achievement is their motto.

I have a question now: Where will the parents sit at the baseball field now?

seems to me like the softball field still has aluminum bleachers... that's pretty unfair if you ask me. I suggest we tear down those bleachers as well so the girls don't have unequal rights.

I think we need to tear out the fence and drop it back another 100 feet and make the playing field more 'equal.'

Police Brutality 8-Year-Old Autistic Boy Handcuffed For Several Hours

After an outburst on a school bus an 8-year-old autistic boy was handcuffed by the police.
The mother burst into tears when she came to the school and saw her son like that.

There were some trouble at the bus that caused the driver to drive back to the school where police could handle the case further.

The mother didn’t understand why they couldn’t take the handcuffs off when he had calmed down, but they just said that the child was out of control and that they wanted to make sure everyone, including the boy, was safe.

They even ordered a mental health hold and drove the boy in a patrol car to the hospital, still handcuffed.

They refused the mother to drive him. The boy’s father said “It’s humiliating and it’s inhumane. If you’re going to tell me that ten adults can’t handle a 40 or 50 pound child, then there’s something wrong. He didn’t need to be in handcuffs.”

When the mother asked the police to take a look at the video tape of what happened inside the bus, the police didn’t have it for some reason.

You have no idea.

They should get a salad bar though.

I should go take pictures of what they are serving here for the next 2 weeks.

please do.

i miss lunch at HS though. I'd get $5 a day from my mom, and then I'll pocket it and then mooch like a ******' champ; So cost effective.

I would splurge on a few bags of whole milk from time to time though.

But really, those pictures are perfect metaphor for schooling in general. This is why everyone should be against standards. When you aim for the lowest common denominator, all you're left with is half a kiwi fruit, a sloppy joe, and a packet of ketchup.

Today is pizza day.

Whole wheat pizza, single slice, a milk, and salad bar(palm size bowl).

I think they're supposed to do veggies here, but there is no way that would go over well with these kids.

I'm not a big Jamie Oliver fan (frankly, I think he's bit of a douchebag), but I did get a kick out of watching his 2005 4-part docudrama Jamie's School Dinners. If nothing else, it reassured me that America isn't the only country capable of screwing things up.

I can't find a source for complete episodes, but you can find them split into fourths here.

(I'm not sure how you calculate how much a fourth of an episode is under the Common Core system.)

I watched his show here in the US, when he was trying to get flavored milks out of the CA school system. Super sad.

To be fair, I also remember what school lunches were like back in the 1980s, back when the president's wife was more concerned about getting us to Say No To Drugs than about regulating the content of our meals.

And, frankly, they were pretty ******* gross back then as well. Breaded, fried chicken nuggets, lots of french fries, soggy rectangular pieces of "pizza" with some unidentifiable meat-like substance on top, hamburgers that must have contained about 30% recycled newspaper judging by the texture... Basically the exact same **** that Jamie is bitching about now and that, if I had to guess, he was also eating back in primary school in the UK at the same time I was in this photo from 1982:
