91% of people think the stimulus bill lost jobs because it is unclear the amount of jobs it did create verse the amount of job lost in the private sector. Every action has an opportunity cost. Those who believe that government jobs programs can create jobs fail to realize or acknowledge that they also destroy jobs elsewhere in the economy. If the government borrows money to finance a jobs program, alternative uses of credit by private individuals and business firms are reduced. If higher taxes are to pay for it, then it mean consumers have less to spend in the private sector, and reduced consumer demand leads to less production and employment.
72% believe the health reform will increase the deficit because that's true. Pretty good job informing the public.
72% believe the economy is getting worse is a loaded question, there is no true answer. If you don't like Washington policies and watch teh stunts pulled by this lame duck session, then yes you might think it's only getting worse. No one in Washington "gets it"
60% believe climate change is not happening because the only good data to prove it is falsified. You also see people like Al Gore make BILLIONS of dollars championing the idea.

CNN and the broadcast network news operations fared only slightly better in many cases. Even MSNBC, which had the best record of accurately informing viewers, has a ways to go before it can brag about it.

I get all my news from John Stewart and Google. I can't stand watching the news anymore, especially Fox News. It is all just a bunch of fear mongering and Fox News is not the only one with dirty hands.

Conclusion: watching Fox News makes people stupid.
Fault with logic: How do you know that the people who tested stupid after exposure to Fox News weren't stupid before they viewed it? Did they go out and find a group of people who had never been exposed to Fox News before, test them, then let them watch the network and test them again? No, of course not.
You might as well say that, among adults, reading bedtime stories causes childbirth. After all, only people who have children are observed reading bedtime stories.
Alternate hypothesis: people who conform to this survey's definition of "stupid" to begin with tend to select Fox News over other television networks, as the formatting and content appeal to their baser interests and are less complex and easier to understand.

+1 for what Joe said. My theory is that most people are stupid, with or without exposure to Fox News. Now I would say that the actual news part of Fox News is not that different from the other cable stations. It is the commentators like Beck and Palin that are biased as hell. But then you have MSNBC on the other side.

The "actual news" part of Fox News is that there isn't any. Say whatever you will about liberal vs. conservative bias, there are still a few networks that actually go out and do actual journalism. Within the broadcast domain, BBC and NPR are probably the leaders when it comes to general news. CNN and the Big Three (NBC, ABC, CBS) trail a ways behind in terms of depth, but still do actual newsgathering.
Sitting a bunch of people around a table and asking them how they feel about a given issue, however, isn't news.

It's very much in the vain of what news is supposed to be - a stating of the facts without injecting too much opinion. You just have to ignore it's obvious association to the church.
I typically catch up with the news via NPR when driving to/from work, however, Fox news is not too far off base in claiming it is liberal media - there's definitely hints of it in it's non-news related broadcasting. They at the very least try to account for multiple voices.
The BBC is pretty damn good in terms of broad overview and content, however, my ears tire of the accent after an hour or so.
I'm quite certain there is (and never was) any 'real' news on T.V. (or cable).

I watch Fox, mostly because I like O'Reilly because he is an *******, one of my people. I like the anchors on Fox more than any other network (besides Beck) and find it more entertaining. I however take everything with a grain of salt as everyone should. They are just normal people too, and they have their own opinions. Hear the facts and form your own opinion. I basically use network news for the coarse info, just to find out about a topic, then I further research it myself elsewhere, if it interests me enough to do so.

O Reilly plays devils advocate too much and he's bad at it.
and you'll hear him say this often:
"What we need less intervention and more gov't regulation."
Kinda weak. Got annoying and I watch him less. Beck I can't watch anymore since he declares himself Jesus II. Otherwsie it beats the rest of the "news" out there.
