An Essex County College professor has been suspended indefinitely after her heated appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight.
Lisa Durden, who appeared on the show to defend a black-only Memorial Day party, claims she was told to cancel her classes and report to Essex County College’s human resources department just two days after her appearance on June 6. She was then indefinitely suspended.Continuing with a similar attitude she had on the show, Durden spoke to The Star-Ledger and said, “they did this to humiliate me,” she said.
“Essex County College publicly lynched me in front of my students.”
According to The Star-Ledger, Durden received a letter signed by the College’s vice president for academic affairs, Jeffrey Lee, which informed her she was suspended “until further notice.”
Durden got heated in the interview with Tucker, where she tried to defend a black-only memorial day party that was organized by Black Lives Matter. She dodged a direct question by Tucker, replying with a response about white privilege instead.

poor llama.
The Dalai Lama’s commencement speech at the University of California, San Diego was reportedly subjected to protest from a number of students.
According to The LA Times, the Dalai Lama gave his keynote grad address at the school on June 17 after months of protest from Chinese students on campus who argued he has tried to “divide the motherland and destroy our national unity.”
The outlet links to one February 2017 article in The UCSD Guardian in which a student, Ruixuan ****, wrote, “we want to spend a fantastic time with our family during the commencement, but [the Dalai Lama’s] presence will ruin our joy.”
According to Quartz, many Chinese students felt the Dalai Lama’s invitation to speak at their graduation was “insensitive” given the view many hold of him “as a separatist keen on splitting China and as a symbol of their country’s feudal past.”
“It’s a view promoted by the Communist Party of China,” the outlet states, “which strictly controls within its borders what can and cannot be said about Tibet and the Dalai Lama.”
Nevertheless, UC San Diego persisted, stating that the Dalai Lama “carries a message that promotes global responsibility and service to humanity.”
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, when the Dalai Lama’s speech rolled around, six students staged a peaceful protest by walking out of the ceremony.
“In Tibet, he had slaves,” the outlet quotes one Chinese-born student as stating. “Foreigners say China invaded Tibet but we actually freed them and freed the slaves.”
Outside the grad ceremony, The San Diego Union-Tribune states that protesters drew “conflicting portraits of the Dalai Lama” while “fewer than a dozen” others argued “that this monk persecutes Buddhists who do not subscribe to his beliefs.”
The protest was reportedly countered by roughly 40 pro-Dalai Lama individuals who carried banners and cards.

Students are very noosed *triggered* these days:
At least one student was apparently upset that police didn’t immediately assume the worst after the saran wrap litter was reported.
Someone at University of Maryland reported plastic wrap as a hate crime and campus police were forced to take them seriously.
According to Campus Reform and University of Maryland’s Student Newspaper The Diamondback, campus police were forced to investigate a piece of discarded plastic due to “abundance of concern” that it might have been fashioned as a noose and placed there intentionally. At least one student was apparently upset that police didn’t immediately assume the worst after the saran wrap litter was reported.

A person who I semi-respect in the real world re-posted this today on socialmediatwitbookspace. And it really does encapsulate damn near everything that I find depressing and hopeless about the port-side of the bell curve in the current crop of twenty-somethings:
https://mic.com/articles/181017/this...-cute-swimsuit
I have three observations:
1: Posting photos of yourself in an ill-fitting bikini on Instagram does not make you a model. Signing an employment contract and receiving compensation in exchange for the service of modelling makes you a model.
2: Why do you assume that everything around you needs to change in order to accommodate you? I lost 50 lbs over the past 18 months, and I'm a 40 year old man with two herniated lumbar discs and a borderline drinking problem who enjoys gourmet cheese and loves to cook. You're an able-bodied teenage girl, and you can easily do better than me in that department.
3: Yes, I can see that you have large, saggy ****. Sorry about that. I have annoyingly large feet. It's not the shoe-and-bikini industry's fault that both fall outside of the "normal" range in those areas.

Lesson #1: Not everyone gets a trophy.

Lesson #3: Some stuff we just can't change, and need to learn to deal with. Everyone has imperfections and things about themselves that they're not entirely happy about, even the girl who fits into the size 0 bikini that you're jealous of.

Continuing the downfall:
There’s Now A Third Option For Gender Identification On Washington, D.C. Drivers’ Licenses
Kimberly Liby JUN 28, 2017
When the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles on Benning Road opened its doors Tuesday, it made history by becoming the first DMV location to issue a gender-neutral driver's license. Since the beginning of state-issued driver's licenses, the policy has been to fill out a form that only has two choices for gender identity: male or female. Now, people don't have to be defined by their gender thanks to the "X" factor, which could extend the option to self-identify to some members of the LGBTQ community.
Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the addition of the X gender identifier to drivers' licenses and identification cards, stating it would go into effect on June 27. "Washington, D.C., has long been a leader in LGBTQ rights and gender issues, and this change is the most recent example of our city's commitment to inclusivity," she said in a release. This is one of many changes to the laws and rights of citizens in the LGBTQ community that are long overdue. No human being should be forced to conform to the biological sexes of male of female if neither not how they see themselves or if they may be transitioning and choose to indicate that.
Nic Sakurai, director of leadership initiatives at the LGBT Equity Center at University of Maryland College Park, identifies as nonbinary, and became the first person to receive a gender-neutral driver's license from the DC DMV on Tuesday. Sakurai told CNN, "For me, it's important to have an ID that validates my existence. Where I know that the government recognizes that I'm a person and that I want to have an ID that isn't false." The X identifier allows individuals to have more privacy around their gender, as well. There has been talk about implementing the X gender identifier for months, and the wait is finally over.
We've come a long way in the U.S. and we still have a long way to go. Folks still have to choose in terms of bathrooms, on other government forms, and airports are a gender-issue nightmare at times, but we've been seeing changes over the past few years that renew hope.
In fact, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, Mara Keisling said, "This is a tremendous first step that acknowledges the experiences and humanity of our nonbinary community members. The District has set the new gold standard for access to accurate gender markers on identification documents in the United States." There is, no doubt, so much more to come from all of this. Oregon will start offering gender-neutral licenses July 1, and more states will likely follow suit.

I used to have commitment issues when trying to decide between the tootsie roll pop or the blow pop with my last 10 tickets at the arcade. I was a child, much like these people. It's sad that they can't even commit to a gender...either you're a boy, you're a girl, or you're irrelevant.
I don't even care if you want to flip back and forth every few years; stop being a dipshit and pick one.
