Well, they have expressed that their preferred gender pronouns are she / her / etc. Biology isn't really a factor here.
It's a long story which involves Admiral John M. Richardson, a startlingly large amount of rum, a polaroid camera, two goats, and a 1968 Dodge Charger.

I am a millennial by age. So I am a recent "left-wing identifier" turned individual-rights conservative. I think about a handful of thoughts everyday just kind of the philosophy of things, one of which I am struggling to think of a quantifiable reason, but also I believe I have an idea I just can't prove it.
"What perpetuates the idea of the leftist mindset?"
It just seems like every time you put a liberal-leftist and a conservative-right together in a debate, the leftist is just left arguing about the emotions of the implications of "social justice" and not the policies that would actually govern people; while the conservative tends to fight to even share a droplet of statistics, logic, reason with them. I haven't seen a debate won by a leftist, according to the standards set forth by those who debate professionally.
So my idea comes from-- my father has tendencies of a leftist (notably, argue-ability, "triggering" and arguing over points that we agree on but again just being triggered and offended) although since I have brought up more questions about his political views, he has come towards my end of the spectrum. So what keeps this leftist movement alive? The thought that people surround themselves of like-minded individuals and create a hive-mind seems to make sense on the surface but I haven't explored it much.
What I want from this thread of people would just be some enlightenment on why they think the leftist movement, gained and/or continued to have strength.

The University of Minnesota-Morris has threatened a student radio show with cancellation after one of the hosts used the word “tranny” on-air, with campus officials offering several shifting reasons for pulling the show from the airwaves. The College Fix has obtained exclusive video of the moment when the students were pulled from the air during the middle of their show.
“Deplorable Radio” is a weekly show on KUMM hosted by students Brandon Albrecht and Tayler Lehmann. Albrecht told The College Fix in an email that the programming is “a mix of politics, music, and some random musings about current events locally and around the world.”
The duo was notified of the cancellation two weeks ago after Albrecht used a controversial word on-air to refer to transgender individuals.
During a discussion about the university’s lack of “Antifa” violence, Albrecht said the campus was too small for a potential violent activist to hide his identity.
“You know, you can definitely, you see one tranny that’s trying to punch someone,” Albrecht told The Fix he said on-air. “You know it’s automatically that one guy that you know I’m talking about. I bet you know. I’m not going to dox anybody and name them on air. But you two know if I say the tranny who looks like he’s going to punch someone. Yep.”
“About fifteen minutes later,” Albrecht told The Fix, “the student station manager came into the studio with a UMMPD officer and told us to leave. She said we had violated FCC law by saying a word that was never allowed on air, ‘tranny.’ So we packed up and left the studio.”

Consider the following thought experiment:
You are the Executive Officer aboard USS San Francisco, a Seawolf-class nuclear attack submarine. You are attached to the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) as part of Carrier Strike Group 8 which, for reasons too obvious to mention, is presently on-station off the coast of Toronto in Lake Ontario.
During the previous evening, your CO, Captain Sam "Freakshow" Navy, choked to death on a piece of Havarti cheese while juggling geese in the officers' mess. As a result, you have assumed command of the boat for the duration of the deployment.
Last night's depth-charge attack has caused a small but thus far persistent and uncontrollable leak in the boat's propulsion room around the main shaft seal. The pumps are able to stay ahead of this leak, and while trim control has become more difficult, the diving officer is able to maintain the commanded angle and depth.
During the midwatch, a transgendered ensign attempted to flush a soiled tampon down the head, which has resulted in a complete blockage of the macerator which services the entire enlisted persons' living area.
Suddenly, your chief engineer is heard over the intercom speaking clearly but with an obvious note of chilling fear in her voice about a sudden spike in radiation readings in the ventilation system throughout the aft section of the boat.
Which problem do you deal with first, and why?

Come on Joe- you should know all the normal Seawolf class subs (all 2 of them) are stuck in port while the Jimmy Carter steals their parts and goes wire tapping under the ice.
I worked on the Jimmy Carter and a few other subs. They are neat.

This link showed up on a friend's blog yesterday - ugly graphics but an interesting take on colleges.

The above goes double in tough times. Heck, our country's most socialist period was arguably the New Deal during the Great Depression. Things were so bad then that even grizzled WWI veterans traded their rights for security. There's nothing really new. The only thing different now is that we know (or should know) what unsustainable failures Socialism and, especially, Communism are. Of course, you actually have to study history to understand this . . . and that's work.

Here's an unpopular opinion: I'm actually not at all concerned about innocent men losing their jobs over false sexual assault/harassment allegations.

The Sun Herald reports that Biloxi administrators pulled the novel from the 8th-grade curriculum this week. School board vice president Kenny Holloway says the district received complaints that some of the book's language "makes people uncomfortable."

Guides allows boys who identify as female to shower with girls
children as very wise.
The Girl Guides will allow boys who identify as female to shower with girls, it has emerged. For the first time, Girlguiding's official guidance instructs guide leaders to allow members who were born male but now identify as female to share changing rooms, toilets and sleeping quarters with girls when away on excursions.
The 107-year-old organisation updated its rules, which apply to members aged from five to 25, to allow transgender girls to "share accommodation with other young members if they wish" and use the same facilities.
Guidance on transgender members was first added in 2015 and updated this year.
The new guidance, issued on the group's UK website, says that "the use of gendered facilities," including showers, toilets and changing rooms, "can cause anxiety".
It adds: "Members are allowed to use the facilities of the gender they self-identify as."
