The official position of the Church is that the only acceptable method of "birth control" is the rhythm method. Sure, it's only about 80% effective but the Church gets more little Catholics that way.

As for your question, even discounting that, to the Church, sex outside of marriage is also a sin: "It's not as simple as that, Nigel. God knows all! 'E'd see through such a cheap trick. What we do to ourselves, we do to 'im."

It is my understanding that the official stand by the Catholic religion is that birth control is wrong.
Does a guy getting a vasectomy count in that regard?
Also not a Catholic, but was raised in a religious household. Much has been written about this subject, on which I am by no means an expert, but have found interesting. An example of one good treatise on the subject: https://theconversation.com/how-the-...-control-95694

I believe that the answer is "Who is Pope at the time you're asking?"

An excerpt from the above link, with my emphasis added:

Regarding his frank 1930 pronouncement on birth control, “Casti Connubii,” Pope Pius XI declared that contraception was inherently evil and any spouse practicing any act of contraception “violates the law of God and nature” and was “stained by a great and mortal flaw.”

Condoms, diaphragms, the rhythm method and even the withdrawal method were forbidden. Only abstinence was permissible to prevent conception. Priests were to teach this so clearly and so often that no Catholic could claim ignorance of the Church’s prohibition of contraception. Many theologians presumed this to be an “infallible statement” and taught it thus to Catholic laypersons for decades. Other theologians saw it as binding but “subject to future reconsideration.”

In 1951, the church modified its stance again. Without overturning “Casti Connubii’s” prohibition of artificial birth control, Pius XI’s successor, Pius XII, deviated from its intent. He approved the rhythm method for couples who had “morally valid reasons for avoiding procreation,” defining such situations quite broadly.

I think there's no question that under a regime which states that the only reason for intercourse is to cause reproduction, and which even decries natural methods of preventing pregnancy such as withdrawl and / or rhythm, vasectomy would definitely run afoul of religious thinking at the time.

Not being religious I am simply curious.

From a scientific perspective I cannot see where guys getting clipped would make any difference as you can still get plenty of women pregnant even if 3/4 of the men have been fixed.
My understanding from my pre-cana course was that anything that directly prevents pregnancy was considered BC. The only thing they seemed to be okay with was trying to time cycles. Not really sure why that's any better when the intent is the same but I'm guessing it's because it's super ineffective. The lady talking about these methods cracked me up because she's advocating natural family planning methods while also telling us she has 5 kids and kept getting pregnant when they were trying not to under the family planning.

The patriarchy is a judge
Who is judging us for being born,
And our punishment
Is the violence you can see.
Is a femicide.
Impunity for my murderer.
It's the disappearing.
Is the raping.
And the fault wasn't me, not where I was or what I was wearing
(X4)
The rapist was you

This was the best story-arc in all of South Park.

(The original PC Principal, I mean. Greta is irrelevant to this post.)

EDIT: maybe 2nd best. I can't decide between PC Principal and Coon 'n Friends.

I honestly didn't realize SouthPark was the new Simpsons.

Then again, I haven't had cable in more than a decade.

NHS 'over-diagnosing' children having transgender treatment, former staff warn

...
The NHS is "over-diagnosing" children having medical treatment for gender dysphoria, with psychologists unable to properly assess patients over fears they will be branded "transphobic", former staff have warned.

Thirty five psychologists have resigned from the children's gender-identity service in London in the last three years, Sky News research suggests.

Six of those have now raised concerns about hormone treatment being given to children with gender dysphoria, a condition where a person experiences distress due to a mismatch between their biological sex and their gender identity.

A psychologist, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "Our fears are that young people are being over-diagnosed and then over-medicalised.

"We are extremely concerned about the consequences for young people... For those of us who previously worked in the service, we fear that we have had front row seats to a medical scandal."

The Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is where children with gender dysphoria are treated on the NHS.

GIDS had 2,590 children referred to them last year, compared with just 77 patients a decade ago.

A quarter of youngsters being treated at transgender clinics may just be autistic, new research claims

Up to a quarter of youngsters treated in transgender clinics may simply be autistic, according to new research.

Those attending gender identity clinics are many times more likely to show signs of autism than the population at large, doctors found.

Last night, critics said the figures called into serious question the practice of 'affirming' a young person's chosen gender and putting them forward for potentially irreversible medical treatment without a thorough examination of their psychiatric condition.

Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are more likely than others to become fixated on an idea – be it true or false – which they can then find almost impossible to drop, warned Stephanie Davies-Arai, founder of the campaign group Transgender Trend.
