I have read it all, including some of the references and links. While it did make some pretty good points, it also stated biased opinions as facts. So, not the best of writing, but well thought out, if a bit long winded.
Bottom line, the guy may need some sensitivity training, but I do not believe it was a firing offense, especially considering it was supposedly solicited feedback. Just be careful what you ask for, because you just might get it.
If I was the company C.O., I'd fire the HR person/boss who dismissed the guy in a heartbeat.

MODEL THAT “TRANSITIONED INTO A BLACK WOMAN” AND HAS PEOPLE CONFUSED AND FURIOUS Aug 14, 2017 at 4:12 pm | By Sunny Ahmed
It’s not uncommon for people to go through phases of their lives when they feel out of place. Whether it’s being in the wrong location, the wrong profession, or just not feeling comfortable in their own skin, most people experience some kind of discomfort like this before they die. But what about if you felt that you were born into the wrong race?
That’s the experience of this German glamour model, Martina Big. Although she was born white, she claims that she is a black woman and has dedicated her life to “transitioning” through extensive tanning and cosmetic procedures. Check out her extremely controversial story.
Big Changes
Martina Big has dedicated her life to becoming who she really is. In her opinion, even though she’s genetically white, she “truly” is a black woman.
She has undergone extreme tanning and melanin boosting injections in order to drastically alter her complexion. She has achieved a significantly darker skintone.
She has also undergone extensive cosmetic surgery. She has had an extreme breast augmentation and bumped her breasts up from her natural 32D to a size which, “according to her is the equivalent of a cup size with 20 ‘Ds’ behind her bust size,” writes Viral Thread.
Although her transition began as an addiction to tanning, it soon became part of her identity. She set out on a mission to “fully become a black woman.”
“Heart and Soul”
She updated her Facebook to write that she had changed her hair to mimic African hair texture and color. After dying it black, she added curly extensions. She wrote that her “ideals have changed” and that she wanted to distance herself from blackface, even though this confounded some of the commenters.
She wrote, “Yes, that’s true. First I just wanted to be tanned. But then I noticed that not only my appearance, but also my feelings and beauty ideals have changed. I find black women so beautiful that I now want to become a black woman. Please do not confuse this with a ‘black face’. This is exactly the opposite! I do not want to offend black people! For me the transformation is very important. Because I follow my heart.” She now identifies as what she calls “a black woman with heart and soul.”
Backlash
She went on to say, “In the past, as a white woman, for me the photo shoots had become routine. Now as a black woman, the photo shootings have become so exciting. I often wonder about my self in the pictures. Being a black woman is so unpredictably great. I admired the beauty of the black women so much. That I now become more and more a black woman, this is for me the most beautiful gift in the world.”
Needless to say, Martina has faced huge amounts of backlash from people who accuse her of performing cultural appropriation and blackface. But the criticism doesn’t seem to sway her. She writes, “Please understand me. I’m not a white woman, with black skin and African hair. I’m a black woman with heart and soul. Getting more and more the body of a black woman is so a wonderful and liberating feeling for me. I don’t want to offend anyone! But I’m not only outwardly a black woman, I’m also with heart and soul a black woman, I swear that by God!”

The Washington Post has less credibility than the National Enquirer.
It's frustrating to hear them being referenced by sources I used to trust, like NPR.
In this climate of economic uncertainty, America is once again turning to innovation as the way to ensure a prosperous future.
Yet innovation remains tightly coupled with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math – the STEM subjects. Art + Design are poised to transform our economy in the 21st century just as science and technology did in the last century.
We need to add Art + Design to the equation — to transform STEM into STEAM.
STEM + Art = STEAM
STEAM is a movement championed by Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and widely adopted by institutions, corporations and individuals.
The objectives of the STEAM movement are to:
transform research policy to place Art + Design at the center of STEM
encourage integration of Art + Design in K–20 education
influence employers to hire artists and designers to drive innovation
I used to work for a company that hired "engineers" from Art school. They would pay exorbitant amounts for prototypes built from poorly executed solid models. The result would look pretty, but be a complete piece of **** otherwise. When it came time to move to production, it was always a nightmare. Very happy to have left that company.
