Video: Alleged golf club thief held at gunpoint in Tulsa parking lot by man claiming to be 'a cop' - Tulsa World: Homepagelatest

Tulsa police spokesman Leland Ashley on Thursday said the armed man — a 59-year-old whose identity wasn't released — has no affiliation with the Tulsa Police Department or Tulsa County Sheriff's Office. Ashley said the man presented credentials showing he was a retired fire marshal from a jurisdiction in the area.

A bystander captured the tense scene on a video Wednesday afternoon, with the armed man repeatedly demanding the alleged thief get down on the ground or "I'm gonna kill you" during the 2:46 clip. The alleged thief continues to back away with raised hands as onlookers can be heard encouraging him to lie down, which he eventually does.

"I didn't do anything," he can be heard saying.

"You just stole my golf clubs," the man with the gun responds.

Tulsa Jail records show Devon Scott Montgomery, 24, was booked Wednesday afternoon on a complaint of grand larceny. He was released a few hours later on a $1,000 bond.

The person shooting the video keeps filming as he or she walks around a car. Through that vehicle's windows, it appears the 59-year-old kicked Montgomery in the head while he lay prone on the ground.

The camera emerges on the other side of the car, and Montgomery can be seen holding his left hand to his head.

"F--- you, I'm suing you," Montgomery said while on the ground.

"Good, I'm a cop," the man with the gun responds, later saying he's retired.

He contends the clubs were stolen from LaFortune Park Golf Course, claiming the alleged crime was caught on tape.

"Next time I'm going to shoot him right in the back of the f------ head," the armed man said.

A bystander responds, "No, you can't do that, he's not armed."

The video clip ends when a bystander asks the person filming to go into Golf Galaxy and have store officials come outside.

...

Police responded to Golf Galaxy at 9121 E. 71st St. on a report of a man pointing a deadly weapon. Officers believe the 59-year-old began visiting businesses that buy and sell golf clubs to try and find his set once he realized the clubs had been stolen.

Ashley said the golf clubs in question were stolen from a patio at LaFortune Park Golf Course around 11 a.m. Wednesday. He said video depicts a young white man — later identified as Montgomery — grabbing the clubs and disappearing from the camera's view.

A witness told the 59-year-old man he saw the suspect load the clubs into the back of what was described as a Japanese sedan, Ashley said.

Ashley said detectives will investigate if a criminal complaint is lodged against the armed man, but otherwise he is considered a victim of theft and police won't release his name.

Ashley said he couldn't comment as to whether the armed man might have committed a crime because he doesn't have information regarding what took place prior to what the video shows. The 59-year-old could have been threatened by Montgomery, Ashley pointed out as a simple example.

Even robot cops are horrible ******** that want to murder humans.

300-Pound Security Robot Runs Over Toddler At California Shopping Center

A young boy was knocked down and run over by a 5-foot-tall, 300-pound security robot at a California mall on Thursday.

Sixteen-month-old Harwin Cheng suffered a swollen foot and several scrapes in the scary encounter at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto.

“The robot hit my son’s head and he fell down — facing down on the floor — andthe robot did not stop and it kept moving forward,” Harwin’s mom, Tiffany Teng, told ABC 7.

Teng said that the robot would have run over her son’s other foot had her husband not pulled the boy away.

ABC 7 reporter Lilian Kim tweeted a photo of Harwin’s injury next to the accused robot:The security robots are made by a company called Knightscope, located in Mountain View. The K5 version uses lasers, thermal imaging sensors, 360 video, air quality sensors, a microphone and various other technologies to deter and detect criminal activities. In the event of suspicious activity, the robot alerts local human authorities.

I need to get back into the flirting game.

Judge orders federal prosecutor who suppressed evidence to be kicked off Bedford drug case - Roanoke Times: Crime

An assistant U.S. attorney in Roanoke is being removed from a criminal case by order of a federal judge who said the prosecutor hid evidence of a sexual assault by an on-duty Bedford County sheriff’s deputy she used as a trial witness.

U.S. District Judge Norman Moon on Thursday directed U.S. Attorney John Fishwick to remove Ashley Neese from the prosecution of Les Christopher Burns, citing “misrepresentations, omissions and evasions” that undermined the fairness of Burns’ 2014 trial and conviction on a felony drug charge.

Moon found that Neese suppressed evidence to protect a key witness against Burns, Bedford County sheriff’s deputy Christopher Lee Cook, from having to face what would have been embarrassing questions about “repugnant, on-duty conduct” that involved drinking on the job and a graphic sexual advance toward a female grand jury witness in December 2012.

Court protocol guarantees criminal defendants access to information favorable to their side. Neese’s breach of that code “was not an inadvertent oversight,” said Moon, who granted a new trial that will require Burns be brought back from prison.

Moon expressed distress that Neese portrayed the 2012 incident as innocuous flirting when Cook in fact exposed his ***** to the woman — conduct the judge said “might be more appropriately called sexual assault.”

Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz introduce the “Back the Blue Act” in response to Dallas Police Chief David Brown’s request to make harsher penalties for someone who targets, assaults or kills a police officer.Called the “Back the Blue Act,” the bill makes it a federal crime to kill, attempt or conspire to kill anyone in law enforcement, including federal judges, subject to the death penalty, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 30 years for murder and a minimum sentence of 10 years for attempted murder.

Many other Bills all across the US are being set by lawmakers to protect themselves and officers more. That widens the gap between police and public, and that’s not a good thing. With police brutality on the rise you’d think more transparency and accountability would come in play. However, we see just the opposite with bills like this being introduced.

This path of destruction will only get us more tyranny. Putting we the people on a lower shelf according to law, when in fact, it should be just the opposite.

If police kill people, that should be a higher offence than anything. I bet that would help accountability.

Cornyn’s bill also would expand the use of federal grants aimed at improving relations between law enforcement agencies and the communities they protect; allow officers to carry firearms in federal buildings and other places where they are currently prohibited; and place limitations on the appeals process for convicted murderers of police officers.

More money and laws will not get us more police protection. In fact, that will lead to more tyranny. We need more police accountability.

If you want to murder your family members, call police--they are great at it.

Father Calls Police for Help with Troubled Son, Body Cam Shows Cops Kill Him Instead

On June 19 at 8:20 p.m., Gary Christian called local police on his son for “freaking out.” Little did he know when they showed up, police would kill him.

What happen to negotiating? Police should be diffusers of situations rather than escalators. Our public servants should be willing to spend hours negotiating to save any life whatsoever.

Devin Scott, who was only 20 years young, could have been talked to and given a chance. It’s situations like these where even though he had a bad history and he had a knife, we must set a higher standard for saving a human life at all cost.

The Kingman Police Department investigated the officer-involved shooting and turned their investigation over to the Mohave County Attorney’s Office. They claim Scott was advancing on him aggressively, but if you watch the video below, police are the ones who are advancing.

All of the officers have been cleared following the investigation.

Lake Havasu City Police have released 911 tapes of the officer involved shooting and body cam footage of them rushing in and killing, Scott.

...

When police arrived, Scott was barricaded in his bedroom, where he’d picked up a small knife.

According to Havasu News, Christian described the knife Devin had as a “small throwing knife.”

“They had two of the riot mats when they rush a cell to pin an inmate,” Christian told a reporter. “There were four cops, two of those mats and five feet to rush him. His knife was this long, blade handle and everything,” Christian said, using his fingers to illustrate about six inches.

Christian continued, “It wouldn’t have even penetrated their jackets, let alone the mattresses they were carrying. They could have fallen on him and pinned him.”

But they didn’t fall on him. Instead, they chose to abruptly end Scott’s life.

Below is the graphic body cam footage of police busting into the bedroom to find Scott laying down in bed. When he gets up with the knife, he is not charging anyone, only telling them to “get out.”

Instead of simply retreating and waiting to diffuse the situation — cops chose almost immediate deadly force.

for anyone that says the kid deserved it, or he could have injured cops--they were wearing riot gear and had riot shields. his knife couldn't have hurt them whatsoever, and deadly force did NOT have to be used. it was also a situation where cops should have been involved in, but since cops are hired guns and trained to kill and not follow the law...

Atlanta cop who killed driver had ?no idea? who was inside car - NY Daily News

An Atlanta cop who killed an unarmed black man last month had no idea who was inside the car he shot into, an internal affairs investigation found.

Officer James Burns was fired from the force earlier this month after the June killing of 22-year-old Deravis Caine Rogers. The three-year department veteran did not know if the suspect he was chasing was inside the car and fired at it as it drove away from — not toward — the cop, according to a report released Wednesday.

“He had no idea who was in the vehicle. He had no idea if that was the vehicle he should be concerned with. He just discharged his weapon," Sgt. Warren Pickard told 11 Alive News. “The officer simply acted in a way that we cannot support.”

Georgia’s Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting for any possible criminal violation.

Low IQ:

Thanks to my fellow KIRO-7 reporter colleague Natasha Chen (who speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese) The owner of Lucky Teriyaki and his son were able to explain what happened today.

I realize this is a polarizing topic -- and people are going to draw conclusions regardless of what's said here, but the owner and his son do not have any English communication skills at all.

They told Natasha in Chinese:

--While the Skagit County deputies were eating lunch, a group nearby spilled soup and their drinks, and seemed agitated and argumentative.

--The owner's son says he told the deputies in very broken English that they made the other customers "uncomfortable." "police not welcome here," is kind of how they say it came out.

--Natasha says she explained to the man and his son that the County's Chief Deputy followed up with a phone call. "Didn't you understand that they were giving you a chance to straighten this out?" Natasha asked in Mandarin.

The son says he didn't understand the question, and he may have just answered, "Yeah," to the Chief Deputy's inquiries, not gasping the gravity of what was about to happen next.

Within minutes of Sheriff Will Reichardt posting this, Facebook blew up with "Boycott Lucky Teriyaki" and more:

The owner of the restaurant told Natasha he and his son have never had a problem with any officer, and they appreciate when they stop in and eat -- which until today, was often.

After questioning the owner and his son for several minutes on a a speaker phone in front of the restaurant, Natasha told me: "My God, I think this whole thing was a misunderstanding, from talking to them."

The owner says he wants to straighten this out with the sheriff--with an interpreter, this time.

He also called the Sedro-Woolley Chief of Police, and told him to spread the word -- every cop eats free at his place on Monday.

He also hopes the threats against his restaurant -- and his family, will stop.

We'll follow up with the Sheriff on Friday.

Michigan Judge Vonda Evans went off on the now former Inkster police officer, William Mendez, who was being sentenced for beating up a black man. The judge — visibly upset about what occurred — let Mendez know that he and his cohorts were a bunch of racist cops. She laid into him for about 20 minutes as court observers watched on. The former cop kept his head down for some of it.
"The video shows the officers fist bumping as a celebratory act of bravery..."

Police Unions hate the Constitution.

Cleveland police union asks for suspension of 'open carry' in wake of Baton Rouge, ahead of RNC - CNNPolitics.com

The head of Cleveland's largest police union is calling on Ohio Gov. John Kasich to temporarily restrict the state's gun laws during this week's Republican National Convention following Sunday's shooting in Louisiana that killed three officers and wounded at least three others.

"We are sending a letter to Gov. Kasich requesting assistance from him. He could very easily do some kind of executive order or something -- I don't care if it's constitutional or not at this point," Stephen Loomis, president of Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association, told CNN. "They can fight about it after the RNC or they can lift it after the RNC, but I want him to absolutely outlaw open-carry in Cuyahoga County until this RNC is over."

So-called "open carry" gun laws in Ohio allow for licensed firearm owners to wear their weapons in public. With the exception of a small "secure zone" inside and around the Quicken Loans Arena, residents, delegates and protesters are legally permitted to walk around the city -- including within its 1.7 square mile regulated "event zone" -- with any firearm not explicitly banned by the state.Kasich, responding to the request, said: "Ohio governors do not have the power to arbitrarily suspend federal and state constitutional rights or state laws as suggested."

the fact that the local PD has to give classes on how not to get shot by police is just sad enough. But that one of their students was shot and killed by police over a broken taillight is worse.

Philando Castile Took A Class Teaching Him How To Deal With Police | Bossip

Philando Castile took a gun safety class where he was taught to react calmly and comply completely with police in case of a traffic stop with a weapon in the car.

Castile, killed by a suburban Minnesota cop during a stop for a broken taillight, received the state-mandated instruction in May 2015 at Total Defense in Ramsey, Minn., The Associated Press reported.

Details about the class emerged Thursday as the family of the beloved school cafeteria worker prepared for his funeral eight days after his shocking slaying in front of his fiancée and her 4-year-old daughter.

The sendoff was set for noon at St. Paul Cathedral, where mourners are expected to fill the 3,000-capacity church to its rafters. The Castile funeral is open to the public.

Pulled over for a seat belt violation, made to sit in his car and wait for a k-9 unit to arrive:

problem with that is not even a year ago, the SC ruled in Rodriguez v. United States:

“a police stop exceeding the time needed to handle the matter for which the stop was made violates the Constitution’s shield against unreasonable seizures.”

Two Cops Arrested After Savagely Beating a 50-yo Man On Video

Two state troopers from Massachusetts and New Hampshire have finally been arrested after they brutally and needlessly beat a surrendering 50-year-old man following a car chase in May.

As news crews filmed from helicopters hovering above, Richard Simone exited his truck, kneeled, and lay prone on his stomach on the asphalt — but several officers rushed the man and initiated a savage attack in what appeared to be retaliation for having led them on an hour-long pursuit through the two states.

Now, as New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph Foster announced Tuesday, Joseph Flynn of the Massachusetts State Police and Andrew Monaco of the New Hampshire State Police have been arrested and charged with several counts of simple assault for excessive use of force.
