DeBaun had been drinking and was carrying a pack of beer when Kuszaj stopped him near the intersection of Calvin and Holloway streets.
"DeBaun's attorney, Alex Charns, said DeBaun asked the officer, "Am I under arrest?"
"When the officer said no, Mr. DeBaun left," Charns said. "Mr. DeBaun was Tasered in the back and when the Taser deployed, he became paralyzed. He went face first into a concrete sidewalk."
Charns said DeBaun faces $40,000 in medical and reconstructive surgery bills as a result. He said DeBaun was found not guilty of disorderly conduct and being drunk and disruptive. The case has been in and out of court since.

She alleged that she was deprived of her rights and illegally incarcerated after Jeff Henderson, a former undercover officer in the Tulsa Police Department’s Special Investigations Division, and Brandon McFadden, a former agent of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, coached a drug informant and fabricated a drug buy in May 2007.

Animals should not be abused, but shooting them has been going on since there have been guns. That some think hunting is cruel does not automatically mean that they get a pass on being dicks about it.

I wonder about the mental health of folks who like to shoot animals out of cages.
I shot critters for sport when I was a kid. I was not mentally healthy though. Seeing close up some that I wounded killed my enthusiasm. I eventually came to shoot things to eat or that were nuisance.
If I had pigeons caged I'd prefer to just butcher them and not be biting into shot then.
Were I to want to actively oppose animal cruelty I would probably just have falling out with the PETA sorts.

I had a pause for thought before posting about the flute smashing if it counted as brutality or just random bestial stupidity.
Maybe I should not disparage beasts comparing them to Customs or NSA or TSA or whoever I have read various claims of whoever saved us from them aged handcrafted flutes that no amount of money could replace. - I suppose that Judge Judy would award the replacement price of the bamboo.
