When thugs…I mean, police officers…attempted to serve a warrant on a prostitute named Josie Bobbitt, Holly Hill, Florida, resident Richard Stohler refused to allow them entry, stating that the woman they were looking for didn’t live there, and that he had no idea who she was.

The brave policemen, however, were determined to serve the warrant and went into Stohler’s backyard, where his two dogs were responsibly fenced in. Like any self-respecting dog, they barked at the intruders. Being dogs, of course, they did not differentiate between intruders in a uniform and everyday, garden variety intruders.

After about 10 minutes of talking with officers, Stotler said he closed the door and went back to watch television in his living room with his back door open. Two minutes later, he heard gunshots, he said.

“I ran through the front door with my hands raised asking them what they had done,” Stotler said. “They started yelling at me to get on the ground, handcuffed me and put me in the back of a car.”

Stotler said his girlfriend, Crystal Hightshoe, followed a trail of blood and found Lady hiding in their bedroom closet and started putting ice packs on her wounds. After officers realized what was going on , they released Stotler and started shouting at him to get the dog to take it to a an emergency animal clinic.

According to police, the dog was taken in a police car to the Emergency Animal Care Center at 696 S. Young St. in Ormond Beach. The city is picking up the vet bill, said police Capt. Steve Aldrich.

“The bill right now is $3,018.76,” Stotler said. “But she has to go back in 10 days to be checked out and get her stitches removed.”

Aldrich declined to release more details on the incident Monday, saying his department is conducting a thorough investigation of all aspects related to the call for service at the home. The captain also declined to release the name of the officer who shot the dog, citing the ongoing investigation. Police still have not been able to find Bobbitt, Aldrich said Monday.

SEATTLE -- An on-duty King County sheriff's deputy was arrested Tuesday night after he appeared to be passed out at the wheel of his parked patrol car.

Sheriff John Urquhart sent a letter to his staff explaining the incident. He said "Alcohol did not appear to be the issue, but drugs most likely were."

Johnson County, IN -
Greenwood police officer Joseph Rodriguez, 41, has been suspended for five days without pay following his arrest early New Year's Day morning.

Rodriguez was off duty when he was arrested by the Johnson County Sheriff's Department following a disturbance at a party with family and friends.

A family friend told officers he pulled Rodriguez off his own wife when he found him choking her. That reportedly led to more fighting, and Rodriguez is alleged to have ripped the shirt off of one of his friends who was trying to calm him down to take him outside.

Delmonico asserts that “the federation’s opposition is not related in any way to a belief that investigations by the BCA or any other agency are more likely to result in an outcome unfavorable to Minneapolis officers.” The heart of Delmonico’s argument is that such a move would “undermine public trust.” Under his reasoning, virtually any policy change made for the purpose of restoring public trust in the police would undermine the police because it would carry a message that the police cannot be trusted without making the change.

A Richmond County deputy who was named Deputy of the Year last week has been fired.

According to a statement released Tuesday, Deputy Austin Shepherd, a five-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, was terminated after information surfaced that he engaged in activities that might be considered a violation of his oath of office. Details on the violation were not released but were said to have taken place before the current administration took office.

Police said Shepherd was chosen as Deputy of the Year because of his compassion and dedication in his daily duties.

In addition to the title, he was recognized by the sheriff’s office command staff, the mayor and the Augusta Commission as county Employee of the Month in September.

A Metro Police captain and an officer violated department policy when they took a Guns N Roses guitarist and his girlfriend on a helicopter ride as part of an elaborate marriage proposal earlier this year, officials announced today.


An internal investigation into the Aug. 7 incident revealed Capt. David O’Leary and Officer Ray Horsley misused department resources when they took Daren Jay “DJ” Ashba and his girlfriend on a “fly along” on the chopper, dropping them off at a field near police headquarters where champagne and roses awaited.

Civilian rides on helicopters are typically done to educate the public about the department and its duties, Metro officials said. Such trips begin and end at headquarters and don’t include off-site landings.

O’Leary was to be punished with a demotion to lieutenant, but he retired instead, Metro officials said. Horsley will be transferred out of the department’s Air Support Detail on Jan. 11, and he will no longer be allowed to fly for the department.

The New York City Police Department is invoking a concept frequently employed by intelligence agencies like the FBI and CIA to deny a request for financial records on the unit that surveils Muslim communities.

Even to release a budget for the secretive Zone Assessment Unit, the NYPD claimed in a letter to HuffPost, would allow someone to "form a mosaic that depicts covert public safety activities that would be jeopardized."

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A local woman had to have her arm amputated after a recent arrest and she is blaming law enforcement authorities.

She has filed a lawsuit and it accuses deputies of using excessive force and the Allegheny County Jail of refusing to allow her to get treatment from a doctor.

According to the complaint, that alleged treatment caused her to suffer from compartment syndrome, which is increased pressure that damages muscles and nerves. The attorney says while his client sat in jail, she made 16 requests to see a doctor for treatment but was denied.

“They never sent her a doctor. Never took her to the doctor. She developed a septic shock. The infection went over and she almost died and they had to take off her arm to prevent her from dying,” Leibowitz said.

Needham, mother of three children ages five to nine, had previously worked in a restaurant. She is now waiting for a prosthesis.

Dallas Store Manager Fends Off 5 Armed Robbers with .38 Revolver, Wounding One; Police Arrive 74 Minutes Later A Dallas store manager using his handgun to fend off an attempted robbery by five armed robbers. There’s also audio of the 911 call from the Dallas store manager asking for police help because of the robbery. Reports indicate he asked for police to come because the armed men had tried to rob his store. The store manager shot at the men with a .38 Caliber revolver, sending the robbers scurrying away, and wounding one of them twice. But his call was misclassified because the operator did not understand he was saying in his frantic call that he had shot one of the robbers, and it took police an hour to arrive. In fact, it was so long, the manager went home and was called back by police when the did arrive. It takes a “good guy with a gun” to ward off five armed robbers.
