Live by the sword die by the sword. Some folks just don't know their limitations. It creates bad press for every responsible driver out there.

 

Did you pay any attention whatsoever to what caused this accident, or are you just spouting off **** you have no idea about.

Dude, are you that dense? None of the articles mentioned any excessive speed and on the first page if i'm not mistaken it was cleared up exactly what happened.

 

If I'm not mistaken, he decided that it would be a good idea to let an inexperienced teenage driver pilot a 300 HP Miata with a twitchy clutch and running on tires which I know from experience to inspire false confidence right up until their limit of adhesion, on one of the more treacherous pieces of road in the continental US.

I know that this is an emotional thing for some folks, but I don't think it's unreasonable to characterize this accident as having been, to some extent, not unforeseeable. Most of us survive the learning of this lesson, while an unfortunate few do not.

 

You are mistaken, it was a very slow paced Sunday drive type of drive. This was a fluke accident. No more foreseeable than the next bolt of lightning.

 

I don't want this to devolve into an argument, so I'll just point out that I never said anything about speed, pace, aggression, etc., and I somewhat resent you inference to the contrary. I merely pointed out that the accident occurred while a young, inexperienced driver was behind the wheel of an extremely powerful and twitchy car bordering on race-prepared, and driving on a road which is famously known to be challenging and dangerous.


None of these facts are in dispute.

 

We don't have to be black and white about this.

We can recognize that the pace may well have been slow and relaxed, well within the safe limits.

We can also recognize that putting an inexperienced driver in a very high performance car on a challenging road for the purpose of learning fairly demanding driving techniques may not be the most prudent choice.
