Default Occupy all the places!

First, an original mishmash which I hope will become a meme, if it isn't already.

Yes, that's the Turbine Fairy.

Now, as it turns out, the revolution has been televised after all. This is fortunate for those of us who have been so busy working to earn money so that we can pay more than a third of our income in Federal taxes to support everyone else that we haven't been able to go hang out in Zuccotti Park and make vague demands to nobody in particular. We are the 53%. You wanna occupy something? Occupy a ******* job. Can't get a job because you have no useful skills and thought French Literature would be a useful thing to major in? Take advantage of the fact that most community colleges are damn near free and occupy a ******* classroom studying CIS or learning how to install air-conditioning systems or repair diesel engines or some other thing that you can actually earn money doing.

And, as only Americans can do properly, the revolution has also provided some excellent opportunities for satire.

For instance, did you know that 1% of the monsters consume 99% of the cookies? Occupy Sesame Street!

And why does 99% of Narnia get to be ruled by four children? Bullshit, I say. Shouldn’t Narnia be ruled by it’s natural inhabitants, the talking animals?

One Ring should not be allowed to rule them all.

But the real winners in all of this were the first to the scene.

Of course, Alaska resident Diane McEachern is doing her part:

And of course, no diatribe on the internet would be complete without a few references to Hitler and/or the **** party.

I'd like to occupy Katee Sackhoff.

But as that's not likely to happen...

I doubt we'll see a repeat of the Kent State shootings- these guys down at Zuccotti are too well-liked by everyone, have good media coverage, etc.

Thing is, at least at Kent State the protesters were arguing against something concrete and specific (American military presence in Cambodia and Vietnam) and making a specific demand (stop fighting other people's wars for them.)

Here, I'm still not entirely sure what "they" want.

I don't WANT another Kent State; I'm just being a hater.

I wouldn't mind seeing another 1985 Cornell De Jour Occupy.

Near as I can tell, it boils down to "them" wanting those of us with jobs to stop wanting money. I suppose if I didn't want money to pay for silly things like Miata parts or a mortgage or my kid's college fund, then maybe I could take a couple of months off from being a responsible adult and go hang out in a park. But I'm just too greedy!

Today, "they" have declared their intent to screw up traffic so people can't get to work. Apparently, the evil 1% now consists of "anyone who has a job."

I might be more inclined to believe that the "99%" had it rough if they weren't tweeting about all this **** on their iPhones.

I honestly feel the daily show clip shows off the movement the best. I stole the clip from Hustler.

Not just traffic, but the subway system as well. They failed miserably. (Well, they made it difficult for folks who actually work on Wall St. and snarled traffic heading into the Holland Tunnel a tad, but that was about it.)

Funny story, though. I'm working at 345 Hudson, which is downtown on the west side (we can see where Cactus 1549 went into the river from the 10th floor engineering office and the 11th floor studios.) At around 6pm, we noticed a massive procession of police cars streaming down West St (there had to be 50+ cars.) I turned to Rob and said "I'll bet they're heading for Brooklyn Bridge." 10 Minutes later, WCBS reports that they're heading for Brooklyn Bridge.

That's my occupy story for the day.

I saw them in DC last night while wearing $100 slacks and A $50 shirt, holding a $125 seat ticket to watch a play, where I paid $15 to park, while driving a BMW x3, after having dinner at a fancy restaurant, after coming home from my corporate job.
