You're comparing them to recessions that can not be compared. The only one that is close in those graphics is the early 80's and it was split into 2 recessions (1980, 1981).

How many wars has Obama started? How much has he increased the deficit?

I'm not impressed by Obama by any stretch but he is not on Bush's level. If the GOP had nominated a candidate worth a **** they stood a good chance of getting my vote. Romney didn't achieve that so it looks like Obama is getting another 4 years.

No more than Bush did. We did not declare war under Bush, nor under Obama.

Congress "authorized" bush to use force in Iraq... a power they don't have.

However, under Bush we at least passed a budget or two, but I doubt we'll see that practice happen again anytime soon.

Joe, I have a hard time picking up on sarcasm, but (I think) I see what you did there....referencing the financial thread.

Mock me if you will. But if the US had stuck to the gold standard, New Coke would never have happened.

(And yes, I realize that New Coke came out before some of y'all were born. Trust me, it was a bigger deal than Katrina at the time.)

Smartest this said in this whole tread yet Fox news would not give air time to Ron Pawl and out of all the GOP debates they gave him Only about 5 minutes of air time. GOP fears the only repub that knows what he is talking about.

A very important article everyone must read and then forward to anyone and everyone on your contact list if you love America:
The past several weeks have made one thing crystal-clear: Our country faces unmitigated disaster if the Other Side wins.

No reasonably intelligent person can deny this. All you have to do is look at the way the Other Side has been running its campaign. Instead of focusing on the big issues that are important to the American People, it has fired a relentlessly negative barrage of distortions, misrepresentations and flat-out lies.

Just look at the Other Side’s latest commercial, which take a perfectly reasonable statement by the candidate for My Side completely out of context to make it seem as if he is saying something nefarious. This just shows you how desperate the Other Side is and how willing it is to mislead the American People.

The Other Side also has been hammering away at My Side to release certain documents that have nothing to do with anything, and making all sorts of outrageous accusations about what might be in them. Meanwhile, the Other Side has stonewalled perfectly reasonable requests to release its own documents that would expose some very embarrassing details if anybody ever found out what was in them. This just shows you what a bunch of hypocrites they are.

Naturally, the media won’t report any of this. Major newspapers and cable networks jump all over anything they think will make My Side Look bad. Yet they completely ignore critically important and incredibly relevant information that would be devastating to The Other Side if it could ever be verified.

I'm not from New Jersey, but I heard that a guy named Rocco Bomber blew up the levies during hurricane Sandy because he hates white people. It probably isn't true but we should spread the rumor anyway because somebody will be dumb enough to believe it.

I'm going to piggyback this in the words of the great Jay Z:

Uhh, this feel right right here Quik
It's like it's 'sposed to happen this one right here
Young! God damn..
.. let me justify my thug on this one right here
It goes one o'clock, two o'clock, three o'clock rock
Five six seven o'clock, eight o'clock rock
Eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock, the party bout to pop
Then - Roc-A-Fella y'all, it's your boy S. Dot
And I ain't never been to jail; I ain't never pay a *****
to do no dirt for me I was scared to do myself
I will never tell even if it means sittin in a cell
I ain't never ran, never will
I ain't never been smacked; a ***** better keep his hands
to himself or get clapped for what's under that man's belt
I never asked for nothin I don't demand of myself
Honesty, loyalty, friends and then wealth
Death before dishonor and I tell you what else
I tighten my belt 'fore I beg for help
Foolish pride is what held me together through the years
I wasn't felt which is why I ain't never played myself
I just play the hand I'm dealt, I can't say I've never knelt
before God and asked for better cards at times to no avail
But I never sat back feelin sorry for myself
If you don't give me heaven I'll raise hell
'Til it's heaven

They say an eye for an eye, we both lose our sight
And two wrongs don't make a right
But when you been wrong and you know all along that it's just one life
At what point does one fight? (Good question right!)
'Fore you knock the war, try to put your dogs in it
Ten-and-a-halfs, for a minute-and-a-half
Bet that stops all the grinnin and the laughs
When you play the game of life and the win ain't in the bag
When your options is none and the pen is all you have
or the block, ****** standin tight, there's limits on the ave
Tryin to cop or shot-call theyself cleansin in the cash
But can't put they name on paper cause, then you on blast
Mr. President, there's drugs in our residence
Tell me what you want me to do, come break bread with us
Mr. Governor, I swear there's a cover up
Every other corner there's a liquor store - **** is up?

And now I'll piggyback THAT with a quote by the great Fat Mike:

Reeko, try and understand
It really is that bad
It won't just go away, the party's over
It's past two o'clock
So it's about time we stopped
'Cause I see the keg has been sucked dry
Cisco emptied in to the aquarium
The fish all seem to float
The ex lax lines the dog bowl
The toilet's overflowed
We've had our fun so
There's nothing left.
We got no place left to go.
Mister President, please understand
It really is that bad
It won't just go away, it's just beginning
The ballots have been cast
We make like seaward rats
Leave this sinking ship
Leave and not look back
The things we never tried to disallow
Have come back to haunt us now
With apple pie and chevrolet
We've come to see the end
We've all made this bed
Now we got nowhere to lay...
... dies and gentlemen
Try and understand

Joe to be fair not everyone paid for it, think of all the low income people who dont pay taxes, or only collect from the government.

Where is my feel good poster addressing them, so I feel all warm and fuzzy while reading how they should get off their ***?

Joe - That's why the whole discussion is asinine. I don't think any entrepeneur has ever said they built their business and success in a vacuum and want to pay zero taxes.

However, statements like Elizabeth Warren's and President Obama's are great at pushing people in to that binary mode of thinking that says, "if they said I didn't build it myself, they must think government built it or somebody just gave it to me and that's a bunch of BS! Rabble! Rabble! Rabble!"

In most cases, the business owner didn't build their business in a vacuum. They participated in the social contract by utilizing group assets (like the highway system) "paid for by all" (all including the entrepeneur) and, in turn, "gave back" even more than many others via higher net tax receipts and by helping to provide employment for others.

Instead of being a point of contention, that should be something everyone can agree on and be happy about.
