Fair enough. I've never spent anytime in that area so I'm unfamiliar with how abysmal it is. But I know even if a company/government offered my a nice chunk of change to move, I'd have a hard time dealing with the bumper-to-bumper commutes. Or park-and-ride, etc. The idea of spending 10-20 hours per week commuting is terrible.

i went from a ~25mile commute to a 2.5mile.

I'd have to get up very early, to leave at 6am in order to get to the office around 6:30 -- just so i could leave before the HOV lanes activated inside the beltway, to make sure -- get this -- so I could actually use a stretch of highway out of the area instead of local roads. They force drivers onto a shitty local roads with thousands of stop-lights instead of putting them on a highway... makes no sense. They actually just recently added a toll onto the highway and actually increased the HOV time, and not-surprisingly, studies have shown the afternoon commute has increased dramatically for everyone.

We have PLENTLY of tax money to just pay for the road improvements, but it all goes to the Mexican families who live 30 to a 600 sq.ft. condo, and the money from the toll which is supposed to pay for the road improvement has already been pilfered for other uses.

The roads here are ******* trash from WWII era. Everyone has moved outside the district in farm land, but that has built up like crazy and we use the same three shitty roads (66, 29, 50) to drive to work. there are certain times of the day I simply cannot drive around here, because of all the commuters driving through my area who live another 10 miles west, but commute all the way to DC.

this was a typical drive home for me. notice the red lane -- they decided to add a lane onto the highway that was only ever open during off-peak hours for years and years before.

this brilliant idea, and millions of dollars later, came and went:

these "suggested speed" signs caused slower traffic and congestion than they days they were turned off. I would see people slam on their brakes as soon as they got to one that suggested 25mph on a 55mph road. I dont even think that program lasted a year.

here's a local 40mph road. It used to be nice 2-lane road that was easy to travel and is WELL used. Well one day, a dumb kid pulled out in front of a car without looking and died. So the city overreacted and converted it into a stretch of single lane road. Made traffic awful on it, and often buses drive up and down on it and now you cant pass them and tons of people pass over the yellow line or the bike lanes now -- making it much less safe.

On the other end of this road, the city just spent a bilzillion dollars putting in a roundabout because the traffic would back-up for miles at a 4-way stop. But now it still just backs-up through the roundabout because the road can no longer handle the load since they reduced it by half.

HOV lanes are a foolish waste of resources. So is "light rail" in most cases.

This is why we can't have nice things:

Basically, the NJ couple and homeless guy who helped them out a while back have been found to have made it up to get money. When will people stop supporting Go Fund Me pages?

I wonder how well Amazon is going to get along with the unions and the Mafia?
We all know that big money attracts a mess of flies.

Because, if you can't afford medical care, you should definitely be given assistance in producing more children.

Visualize a gauge with 360° of pointer rotation. The 12'o'clock position indicates sanity and normalcy. The 6'o'clock position indicates complete and utter lunacy.

I feel as though the needle is approaching the 6'o'clock position, and eagerly hope that it will continue to rotate after crossing that point.

There are greater chances of multiple births too [as well as other big risks].

so the idea is to get low-income families who cant afford to feed themselves, 2-3-4 children to live off the dole with them, so the democratic voter-base increases exponentially.

HASHTAG: BELIEVE ALL WOMENSelfie Clears Man Facing 99 Years in Prison for Crime He Didn’t Commit

A Texas man was confused when police arrested him in September of last year, telling him he was accused of breaking into an ex-girlfriend’s home, attacking her, and slashing an “X” into her chest with a box cutter.

When they told Cristopher Precopia the date of the alleged attack, however, he realized he had been out of town, about 65 miles away at a hotel with his mom and others. Photos were taken and posted to social media, including a selfie obtained by KVUE.

Nine months after his arrest, Precopia’s lawyers took the evidence of his alibi to Bell County prosecutors, and the charge was dropped.

The felony charge, burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit other crimes, came with a possible prison term of 99 years. It’s not clear what evidence the Temple Police Department had or thought they had, and police won’t talk about their handling of the case.

Precopia’s alibi evidence included time-stamped, geolocated photos, as well as sworn affidavits from people with him on the night in question.
I'm trying to figure out why it took 9 months to get the charges dropped, and/or why there were charges in the first place without any evidence whatsoever.

best comment of the moment: this is why you don't sleep with a liberal.

Don't knock it 'till you've tried it. They tend to be passionately angry, and if you can channel that emotion properly, it pays off rather well. (Obviously, you need to have an exit strategy.)
