Jared, I hate to break it to you man, but global warming's been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Arguing against it is as silly as trying to say evolution doesn't exist.

or maybe i should be asking what we did to cause the earth to warm up from it?

i dont have much of a stance one way or the other

im just questioning it all

The ozone hole over Antarctica and resultant healing and related data validated a great deal of the global "warming" theories with hard data.

My understanding is that the most recent Greece package was pretty much more of the same thing they have been receiving the past couple of years. Wait a few more months and we will see how they are doing on their targets for reducing debt/GDP when their GDP continues to contract because of increasing unemployment and lower aggregate spending and production.

Oh, nevermind. We're too damn retarded to accept a lower wage represented by a lower number.

Holy ----, i've got it! - the quicker our money is inflated, the lower our real wages become. If only we could do it without increasing minimum wage!! Greenspan, start printin' them dollar bills!!
I'll make you a deal: I'll trade you all of your 2012 dollars and 2012 living standards and swap you the fully valued 1913 dollars and the 1913 living standards that go with. Hopefully, you don't plan on living much past 55...

IIRC, the allocation for a single person is $191 month.

That's a bit over $6/day. Do tell how someone is buying caviar on $6/day worth of food, Brainy.

It's $200 and you have to make less than $14,000, or $1,180 a month.

So you eat lots of McDonalds and Crab Legs and don't save one penny.

Coincidentially, $200 a month is just a little less than my food budget for the month...and that's a 2 person household + 2 cats.

There's nothing you can say to me to convince me that food stamps is a good idea. not one thing, not all the strawmen in the world.

Dude. You are living on $6/day for 2 people + 2 cats?

You gotta let me in on your food expense secrets.

BTW, I'm completely unimpressed. If someone is making under $1200/month, I could care less if they get $200 in food stamps they can only spend on food. I'll grant you there are better theoretical uses for the money, but it's federal gov't dollars we're talking about. At least food stamps go to real citizens instead of a war effort, or (even worse) another country.

Oh yes, I went there. I said it's better to give our poor food stamps then give foreign aid to another country.

I mean, that's a tough choice: Encouraging disincentivation through Robin Hood like robbery (insert joke about slavery) or feeding the MIC.

Tell you what, Brainy, cut all foreign aid and I have no objections to cutting food stamps!

Hell, cut all corporate welfare while you're at it.

Wait, did I just imply that we spend more on foreign countries and corporate welfare than on welfare for our citizens? Oh yes, yes I did. WHATCHA GONNA DO BOUT THAT, BRAINY?!?

As our standard of living has increased over the last ~100 years, our definition of "poor" has changed dramatically.

Did you know the cost of washing clothes has increased something like several thousand percent since 1913?

I mean, it used to be practically free for women to spend all day on the shores of a creek or sitting around a big tub of water, running the clothes over washboards, then leaving them out to dry on clothes lines. Damn inflation ruining our lives!

The end of America is coming and interest rates are going to skyrocket! Find out how by sending me your soon-to-be-worthless US dollars to subscribe to my newsletter.

That reminds me of that angry report from Fox News that had the commentators frothing over the poor having refrigerators, Scrappy. I lol'd at it hard.

Honestly, at least food stamps contribute substantially to the local economy where they are used, Brainy.

I mean, I have much bigger targets than citizen welfare. It doesn't bother me nearly as much because food stamps, as an example, run us less than foreign aid as an example - and due to helping local economies, I'd argue it is at least partially paid back. Unlike foreign aid. I'm not on board with them, but they really don't bother me as much as foreign aid, corporate welfare, or what have you.

I eat cereal for lunch, or pb&J, something that only costs me between $5-$10 a week. Same with my wife.

I spend roughly $40 a week on groceries.

and try to spend about $5 a night on dinner between the two of us.

And just because you get $6 a day in food stamps, doesn't mean that's all you spend on food. Not to mention the Welfare and SSI that might also be collected.

Here I'll just bash you all:
