Hello guys , thanks for all the topics and replies over the years , but now , I'm here to ask the magic question :
Setup for Miata NA 1.6l Build (1991)

So , here we go.. I got a miata NA from 1991 , with 1.6l engine , i think that the engine was rebuilt some time ago , but that does not matter ..
These days , my browser looked like a trash full of things , because I have clicked every website and every images and every spreadsheets regarding Turboing the NA .

So , I'm a little frustrated because I don t know how , and why , and what to choose:

My main goal is around 250hp , and I want to use the DIY style ( Will do the downpipe at home and all the fittings ) . At this moment , I will not forge the engine , but I will not say that I will never forge it , maybe in 2-3 years or when the road is gonna leave the chat.

Im looking around for the turbo manifold and the turbo + ECU .. My main question is , what to choose guys?

ECU : Speed Efy / MS221

TD04-13T , GT2560 , GTX2860 gen2? (I got a deal for gtx2860 '800 euro' with 8000km) .
I want that the car to spool quickly , at least 3000-3500 rpm , and also keeping it up untill it's atleast 6500k rpm.

If I need to get the TD04-13T , from what car I can take it? I can buy a second hand one and go for rebuilding it (it's around 200Euro second hand) .
If it's the gt2560 , or gtx2860 gen2 , what do you think about the garret or the Pulsar ones?

I do have one list that will be really appreciated if you will comment on that , and hellp me with some..advices.

I would read a few more threads first. Tons of good info on what you’re looking for posted all over this site.

Hi Zaz, and thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I feel extremely overwhelmed by the situation, because viewing a lot of posts and a lot of videos, now I'm starting to throw myself towards EFR, which is starting to become a headache... I'm not looking for wisdom, but I need your advice to someone who, perhaps, at some point, went through what I'm going through too..
As an ultimatum of what I have summarized so far, I have to buy 2554 and manifold from kraken..

Yeah, your post raises some issues.

So, where did this 250 figure come from? What are you going to (are now?) use the car for - track car, dual duty, road car?

You THINK your engine has been rebuilt? So, if it was rebuilt, you have no idea of the spec? And since you also don't know when, you have no idea of the mileage on it since, whether it has been tracked/thrashed/babied? And if it wasn't rebuilt, how many miles/Ks has it, what is the compression/oil consumption/etc? Have you considered the transmission issues in the early cars - the weak 5-speed, the weaker diff? Brakes/suspension?

That is not a trivial power increase, so these things do matter. I am making more or less that power level on a fresh fully forged BP build by way of comparison.

I'd suggest you first do some diagnostics on your engine (and the car generally), to ascertain, as far as you can, its state of health, and readiness for a turbo build, and then do a search on here for some build threads for turbo 1.6s that you can use as guides for what is possible, and what is involved.

Hello Gee! Thanks for reaching out!

This is going to be a weekend car and sometimes I will go on circuit with her . I have bought it from germany , it was a track car . The suspension is good , BC coilovers , anti sway bar HR from IL motorsport , semi slicks , and in mechanic terms , the car is ok . At this moment , it does have around 200.000 km , and I have talked with the previous owner and he said that the engine was NOT rebuilt.

I do not have any idea of the specs of the engine , and the car was tracked . I have not check the compression , but currently I have 2000km with it and it does not "eat" oil . It does have the original brakes , and original transmission.
