they tried to tune it but couldnt get it to make the power i was looking for.. so they didnt charge me for the 2 weeks of tuning that they tried...
i have it set right now to the settings from fm.. the ecu defaults for a 1.6l turbocharged with 440cc injectors..
the car idols up and down between 1200 and 2000 rpms..
its also sounding rough when i rev it to 5k and back down to 1200 rpms..
when it first starts up and i dont hit the gas it idols fine..
when i hit the gas one time the car seems to idol up and down continiously..

why are they set up for 440's you are runnign 550's arent you runt he 550 map. Talk to Kmag and see if he can send you his fuel map he is running a 1.8 but his fueling will get you closer than you are now.
There is no 550 base map. You use the 440 map and lower master fuel.

You could try a few pulls with the WG reference off the manifold and see what psi you get from there. If it's a 15lb spring and your only seeing 10lb on the gauge then the WG is bad or there is a large loss or restriction somewhere in the IC piping. For example. I have a 9lb spring, and with WG reference at the turbo outlet I see 8lb at the manifold. With the WG reference off the manifold I see 9lb on the gauge. I have 1lb of loss thru the IC. As far as the 10/25lb issue goes where you can't control the boost I'd lean again towards the WG being the issue. Bent WG rod? I forgot if you said internal or external.
EDIT - I forgot to mention I had a similar problem with a turbo that used an internal wastegate. The flapper was hitting the housing causing it to stick open and sometimes not close fully.

What injectors (RC or RX7)? You might need to change injector offset in addition to master fuel.
What is the rest of your setup? Do you have a WB? There are things you need to do to setup for a WB. You need to turn it on and also set your targets.

you can tune for almost all road situations on the road... and for us, when we need to go to a dyno, we rent time elsewhere.
Down near tampa it seemed that almost every shop started by installing the dyno and then built up around that. It is almost impossible to advertise unless you can brag about how much you increased the hp of your customers.
a shop without a dyno is not necessarily a bad shop.. it might just be a shop that knows that a dyno is a bad way to make money. we have gone over having a dyno so many times, and every time we do, we end up realizing that it's a bad investment.

Street tuning is a good way to set a shop up for a lawsuit.

It just doesn't seem possible to do as a good a job of tuning on a public road compared to sitting on a dyno where you don't have to concern yourself with where the car is going... or cops.

seriously. even two runs on a dynojet with autotune NAILED my fuel map to my targets to redline on boost. you could have cars on and off and make bank to pay for it.
