300HP possible on a 2002?

OK, i've just been curious as to if it's possible. Im not running out to go crank up my boost and blow **** up. But, i get the idea after seeing all these confusing dyno numbers getting posted on hell.net. There is one dyno with a similar kit at 10psi putting down "274rwhp", but then there was another one at ~254rwhp.... wtf??? I've always heard that FM's dyno loved to be optimistic.... but by how much? Is there a chance i'll see different numbers then FM says due to my lower elevation and better 93 oct gas?
Meh, all i know is that very soon im scheduling an appointment with Ed @ Balanced to get mine dyno tuned for 12psi. (maybe 14 if 12 goes smoothly). Hoping that nets me near 280-ish at the wheels. I know im going to start planning on getting my hands on a 1.8 block and throwing some pistons and rods at it and going for a solid 300rwhp.

. Realistically, I wouldn't push it past 12 psi if motor reliability is of any importance to you. If you want to push the limits go to 15 psi.For me those numbers translated to 260whp@12psi, 280whp@15psi, 305whp@20psi.
Now for the built motor, the skies the limit.
I was running a T3 w/ a T04E Compressor Wheel.
with that said, the same car down here, with the proper fueling, could possibly pump at the same numbers without correction.
Since a 12psi run on FM's dyno would be like the same car running 8-9psi at sea level it makes it really hard to use their dyno results for anything other than wishful thinking.
You have a 2560R on there right? 15-18psi could get you pretty darn close 300rwhp, but I wouldn't expect more than 275 or so. The compressor wheel craps out at around 35 lb/min, which is about 320BHP worth of airflow volume.
I know nothing about the internals of a '02, so I dunno if it's wise, if a lower compression motor, 12-15psi should be doable.

Ahhh ok. Yeah, ok. I guess if i wanted to make it a reality on a stock motor, then I'd need a 2871 or something similar..... but i don't want to go there....yet. I don't think i'll be disappointed with 12-14psi either..... esp. if it nets me near the 270-280rwhp mark (then i can say i have a 300hp miata..... at the crank lol).
I'm not on a mission to blow my car up though. So I'll keep the boost under at/under 14.
-Mike, i suspect that at 20psi the air was VERY hot... exp. with the fact that it only made 305 at the wheels.. no real mystery that it expired. That's why it's important to get good flow at a low psi rather then the same flow at higher psi

Scott, can you make any guesstimate what a 2871 (or would a 2860 be better?) will do at 12psi? Would it get close to the 300rwhp mark?

putting one on newbsauce's built 1.6L soon... I can tell you then. those things are damn efficient up top.

Maybe so, I don't have a datalog of the dyno run.
You can't do any tuning on the BPM dyno. And their dyno is fairly optimistic.
And to address your main question, no you're not hitting 300--not even at the crank--at any reasonable pressure. I predict 250 whp at 12psi.
They don't have a tuning (ie load) dyno. Go see Jerry at DIY.
not if it's your daily driver.
they just have a crappy *** dynojet. good for power pulls. not good for tuning. you can go there after you're tuned if you need to make a glamor plot.
