Default 5858 vs 6262 vBand low a/r

I am in the process of building a high revving high horsepower Miata. I currently have a full turbo set up that is doing 220 at the wheels but that's not enough. I have a fully built bottom end and top end -cams at this point. I have oversized valves and heavy springs to go with my high revs as well as a balanced crankshaft. My question to all of you is if I want to have in the 500 hp at around 8000rpm will it be better to go for the 5858 or the larger 6262.

I'm leaning towards the 5858 due to the fact that it will spool that much sooner and it is rated for over 600 hp.

there is the green drag Miata on Instagram "sexytime" last time i asked him he was running a 6262 on a 1.6.

I have a 96 NA8 sooooo. little more there. he also had more fab work than I do though.

Has 220whp...wants 500whp? What warrants that 280whp gain?

I would delete Mr Sexytime from your Instagram feed since he's been in trouble with the law for pedophilia.

Beyond that, his car is a show car and not optimized to go fast. I seem to recall his turbo not spooling until around 6,000 RPM or something.

Why don't you spend a little time reading some of the threads around here? There are people running mid 10 second quarter miles at 128 miles an hour with 6 inch wide rear wheels, 8 inch tires, and no fender pull.

All of my original assumptions aside... Lets just say you have the cash AND the knowledge to do this. If high reving- high Hp is what you want, why would you use a miata engine?

Edit- I cant in 1 million years, imagine myself typing "mr sexytime" into my search bar.

Hot tip, use google and write "site:miataturbo.net (whatever you're looking for)" You'll get around better. And search things multiple times.
Also, ride in a +300whp miata to get some perspective.

You need to read a lot. And once you have read a lot and think you know enough read more. There is some of the best knowledge around on this forum but every day some new person asks obvious questions that have been answered in a million threads. Just search and read a lot and almost every one of your questions will be answered.

For what its worth, Matt went 10.7 @132 making roughly 530whp. Granted once he learns the car a bit more I personally anticipate it to shave a decent amount off of that time. And although his car is primarily a show car, he has all the right "go fast parts" anyone else would have and then some. His car has been just as much a go fast car as it is a show car. His personal actions aside, his car was very well executed in my personal opinion,

Was this the guy that had slower ET's in the quarter mile with 500 horsepower versus the guy with 350 horsepower?

And his exhaust exits out of his hood and he's got great big flares and wheels off of a Buick donk? And slower than a guy who's on factory wheels in the quarter? Slower than the guy who's running a full exhaust and no cut up sheet metal?

Yeah, I would certainly follow the choices of Mr. Sexytime. He seems to be replete with good ideas.

I built a manifold for a local guy with a precision 5558 turbo on a late non-vvti 1.8 (99-00). he makes full boost at 4300rpm and also makes 490whp. no need for a 6262 with those numbers, imho.

Here is his roadkill feature.
