I barely started searching and came up with the following popular pull apart cars that use them: Towncar, Camry (pic), ES300 and stopped there. I just need to make a trip- but wanted to make sure I grabbed anything else I might need while there. I'd pull the piece with the mounts for easier adaption and no added cost. Seems that all these V engine mounts are compact due to the engine size- which will work fine for my inline 4. Thinking of running from the upper part of the block to the driver side frame rail - like over top of the AC compressor.

As mentioned in post #510, I was working on an electric oil primer pump. I assembled it today. I am still scouring up adapter fittings to attach it to our spintron oil system at work, to see how much pressure and flow it will produce. I'm about $80 into it including all the fittings and hardware. Raw material from the scrap bin and my time is free. I have the cost spreadsheet at work, I will update.

It's a Honda RC51 Gerotor pump driven off a Razor scooter motor. 2500rpm at 24v, somewhat less at 12 I assume. 9/21 tooth sprockets. So the pump will spin pretty good assuming the motor has enough torque. I'll see soon.

Pics or it didn't happen!

very very nice... although I'm running an accusump to provide about the same thing.

Although I am thinking of constructing something similar as your electric primer pump, mounted to a bench so it can prime a dry accusump outside the car prior to installation...

Thank you. Yeah, everyone at work said just get an accusump. Or buy a $130 remote turbo oil pump. Those spur gear pumps will do 20psi or so. But I don't know where to fit a good sized accusump, and I'm cheap. And of course I like building silly **** like this. Pump was $15 shipped, motor $23. The chain, shaft seal, orings, AN fittings were another $25. I'm probably missing something, so $80 seems right.

Tim, this is why I love watching your projects.

Reasonable accusump << Lets build something and see how well it does, for cheaper!

Its crazy awesome stuff like this that sometimes changes everything we know as "reasonable" and "usually the norm", I love it!

Wow! What an incredible display of comitment and ability!
This thread has exceeded my expectations of this forum by leaps and bounds.
If i may ask a question, what made you choose the KL over a BP4W or BPVE/Z3? As incredible as this swap is i wonder if, for functionality sake its worth it. If not it certainly is worth it for the sake of not only accomplishing something abnormal but mastering it.

Once the KL is up and running, it's like having your cake and eating it, too. It'll make more power AND have a much bigger curve than any B-motor doing it.

Thanks fellas. I should have oil primer pump testing done soon. It is attached to our spintron, just have to tighten the 30 or so AN fittings & adapters and fire it up. Maybe tomorrow...i have someplace I have to be after work today and I can't be dirty.

Concealer is right. Even NA, the KL is very fun. This time around I'm building a more legit turbine replacement piece so I can tune the NA regions more accurately, and I'll put the air filter on the intake instead of sucking thru the intercooler. So I can get a good feel for it being NA properly, besides being a better base map.

If running NA and the Miata trans, you can run the factory subframe and fit exhaust. 200rwhp and 8000rpm would be simple and reliable. If i were younger (or kid(s) were older) I would consider selling a swap kit: bellhousing adapter, motor mounts and oil pan for factory subframe/steering rack, and intake manifold. Either run the factory iron exhaust manifolds or ebay headers.

Ehh, anyway.

I just finished testing the primer pump. It had to suck up about 6 inches and pump up 5 feet to the flow meter.

0 psi: 1.42 gal/min
40psi: .9 gal/min
60psi: .6 gal/min
80psi: .24 gal/min

Any more than 85psi and it will start to surge.

Engine is back in and running.

I made a new tubular turbine replacement so I can make a better base map. Last time I just blocked off the CHRA hole and ran the turbine. That's probably a bigger restriction than I figured because my fuel map was very strange.

Electric Det can, build instructions from this forum of course:

Oil primer pump works pretty damn good, ~40psi on the factory gauge. It still takes 'a while' for the main oil pump to produce pressure but at least I know there's oil on the bearings until then. I'll try to get a video through the oil filler cap of oil squirting thru the cam journals.

My oil temp housing was the perfect place to put the Vibrant -8AN check valve.

Primer pump mounted on the passenger side. It mounts up against the factory undertray somewhat snugly.

I just bought-it-now a white '90 hood which I plan to pick up tomorrow morning. I'll cut it up and install the EVO8 hood vent mesh screen I picked up over the winter. Hopefully the ladies will be able to see my big turbo through my ricer hood vent.

I got this idea from slmhofy here:
https://www.miataturbo.net/race-prep...t-miata-69032/

I scored a proper-color OEM hood locally off eBay a few weeks ago. That (well actually I used my hood as the eBay hood is in much nicer condition), the EVO8 hood vent screen I got off ebay over the winter, and 2 days with my angle grinder and dremel got me what I like for a hood vent. I still have a spare hood to go back to if I get tired of the rice, plus I know I don't have a cooling issue with a stock hood. This was just for fun.

I am keeping the factory bracing intact for the moment. It's not toooooo obvious...well ok it is so I may remove it and possibly replace it with some .500" aluminum tubing instead, if it's limpdick without it.

I'll post more pics in the original thread above, but for now here's a pic:

Why are you asking about all the ricer boy body parts in random threads. First bobs silly spoiler now this. Please just install the complete autozone stick on vent catalog to the FE3T miata.

THAT is one of the few extractor hoods i can get behind. Nice job Tim, i'd love to see some pictures of it out in the sun sometime.

I chopped the bracing out of my hood in that area for a Ford GT500 vent, and it was VERY limp. I took the latch out and ran hood pins because I was afraid of the hood buckling under latching forces.
