Oh yeah, same here. I love it when someone goes to lean on the hood and ***** the ******* pants when it just collapses under them. That paint has a crap load of flex in it.

Well, I'm glad I couldn't find a GT500 vent then.

I want to see it at night after a nice long pull. The turbo sits right under it doesn't it? In for orange glowing hood vent.

I'll see what I can do but yeah, the turbo is below the vent. I may not work tomorrow and reinstall the turbo. The base map looks pretty good this time. BTW, if you are reading this, buy one of these KL's. It's seriously fun and adequately quick NA. Churps second tehehehe. Great midrange, no top end though. Like a BP, but 25% more. It sounds great reving it, but it doesn't go anywhere. Much better to short shift it (at 7k ). I recorded my ride home from work last night and will stitch worthwhile sections into a viewable video shortly. Garbles and pops on decel are glorious without the turbo. I hope they come thru on the video.

But yeah, the heat waves thru the vent...not the car to drive in stop & go traffic if you're hungover.

Coolant temps on the highway have dropped another 6-7 °F. I'm now kissing upper 180's (avg 192) at 75+mph. Back roads/stop & go i'm at the usual upper 190's. I was around 210+ this time last year before sealing the radiator inlet and adding the oil cooler.

Very true. Still working on my intake manifold.

Here's the drive home with no turbo video from the other day. Kinda boring, it doesn't capture the sound or the sense of speed very well. But whatever, I may as well post it.

Time to go reinstall the turbo.

That angle makes the vent look like you took the grill off of a happy face generation mazda 6. I almost mean that in a cool way.

Wintertime bump.

I'm getting closer to getting something to fit under the hood. Hopefully this will all be done by warm weather.

Yeah i was wondering about runners/trumpets as well.

I know it matters a LOT in an N/A car, but wasn't sure about how much it matters under boost.

Of course, when i boost cars, i tend to not give a **** about the intricate details and just twist a boost controller more.

Thanks guys. I wanted to be able to fit as long a runner as I could while clearing the hood and cam sprocket towers. Yeah, to try to get more low end torque. I have a rougher dual plenum design with two butterflies like the factory intake too, but that will be too complicated for now. Instead I will try to make this with the longer runners, and I could make some shorter trumpets as well to try.

I'm trying to decide if I want transparent panels, necessitating a flat top to the plenum, or make the top all curvey/3-D but not able to see the insides.

Option 1 would also let me see how much oil is getting inside the intake...After 3000 miles put on this past summer, there was a surprising amount of oil in the intake manifold when I removed it. Hopefully it was the full oil catchcan.

Quickie top modeled during lunch, still tweaking it:

Short trumpets easily done for testing:
