If its a GT series you better water cool it ( if its ball bearing that is ). If you have a sleeve bearing turbo you can do without the water cooling.

I believe if you have the ports for watercooling, then you should certainly use them. It was designed to be cooled with water, and if it only has oil.. it would at least in theory become much hotter, which is bad mmkay.
