You should have no issues provided you have a good ECU and a tuner that knows what they're doing. We have a 1.6 car that idles perfectly well with a similar Continental 80lb injector on gasoline. There are plans to move to E85, so we fit the injectors. They were chosen because they were inexpensive and essentially a drop-in fit. Just haven't filled it up and made the fuel change yet.

We also have 1000cc IDs on a 1.8. It was originally setup for E85 but recently switched back to gasoline. Idles perfectly.

The newer injectors, especially the EV14 stuff, are just so much better and consistent at low on-times than the old EV1s. It's really amazing how well they work. ECU components play a role in consistency at low on-times as well.

I installed a set of 1150cc FIC EV14s in a MS2ed 1.8L last week. Idles perfect at 14.7, amazing stuff.

I'm going to have to buy some new injectors for my MS3x install. Sounds like the EV14s are the way to go, being the newest technology out there and all. Since it's been done already, there must be some experience out there.

The EV14s look physically different from our stock injectors. What do I need to do (mechanically) to hook them up? Are there adapters? Different electric connectors shouldn't be a big deal, but mechanical connections, making sure there's no leaks seems important...

As long as you order the right ones, they drop in like stock. There are a few options for wiring (pnp/pig tails ect) AFAIK

If you order Injector dynamics they will drop in like stock. You either get PNP adapter clips for an extra $50 or so, or you get the stock injector clips and wire them in yourself. If you go to the ID website they have the part number for the correct crimpers on Waytech to make hooking up the ID pigtails. It took me all of 15min last night to put on the correct pigtails.
