What possible use would you have for a dual-stage MBC?

I am in the market for a MBC. With a four month old in the house, price is definitely an issue. So building my own or buying an ebay one (which from what I understand is pretty much the same thing) is going to be the way to go.

In my research on this board I came across this post:

from member Weitau:
If you really want to splurge, go for a 2 stage MBC. 1 stage MBC just bleed air that should have helped the turbo spool up and avoids turbo boost spikes. On a 2 stage MBC, the first stage is controlled by a stiff ball/spring. This will get you into your target boost ball park. Then the 2nd stage lets you fine tune the boost by 1/2 psi.

I've been using one for two years, and never had a boost spike that could have killed my motor. Bought it from a guy on eBay, who still answers my support email today. ebay listing #300127883674

the part he is referring to:

Should move this thread, it looks like a regular MBC with the addition of an adjustable bleed instead of the usual fixed bleed, not a bad idea.

there are write-ups all over the place....basically a solenoid with an on/off switch, to route boost straight to the wastegate or through a ball/spring.
