Default Anyone running Hooker Max Flow muffler?

Any one got sound clips as well?
How about loudness in comparison to other common mufflers such as borla or magnaflow?

Thanks

looks like a straight thru perf design. should be about equivalent to any other straight thru design in the same size category

well supposedly this pipe is suppose to flow just few % less than a straight pipe.

The guys that tested this were saying flowmaster 40 was flowing about 50 some %, there was a magnaflow that was flowing about 70, there were few off brands in the middle and this one was above 90%. I remembered this muffler since it flew almost as much as a straight pipe.

"flew"?

flowed?

look at the muffler designs they tested. it will tell you a lot.

bad:

good:

most people want the second type for a turbo application. and they all probably flow pretty much the same.

the magnaflow I run is like the second picture. so is the hooker you mentioned.
oddly, "turbo" mufflers are terrible for turbo cars. they're all like the first picture.

right correct, thats why i was confused how 2 mufflers can flow different if they are straight through (Magna vs HMF).

Man i want a 3" muffler that is a tiny bit louder than stock lol

sorry for the typo, i forgot how to say flow in past.. flowed sounds about right now

That's easy: get the BIGGEST cannister you can fit. Then add on the biggest resonator you can fit.

I got if not the biggest then close to the biggest can that fits on our cars (per recommendations of seasoned members here, thanx guys) 26x8 iirc and it sounds great. Definitely a bit louder than stock but nowhere NEAR loud. I was going to run a large resonator as well (performancepeddler sells both) but changed my mind. I'm glad I didn't run it cause it would have been BARELY louder than stock.
If that's what you're after then take that route.

^YES. I've been down this muffler road. There's at least four guys here running that giant magnaflow and it's everything they claim for sound killing with the flow of a straight pipe. It's quiet when cruising and sounds great under full throttle. Most of these type mufflers are similarly priced, I went with the Magnaflow given it was a "known entity" from the installations here.

but too bad they have to be tuned to each engine/vehicle. I use the magnaflows, good quality, affordable, 100% stainless, great tone. I run no resonator but a metal core cat.
