I am just looking for a long lasting trouble free solution. I have been scouring this forum and the web, but everybody seems to have problems with all of them.

These are the models (recirculated) I've been reading about:
Forge FMDV006
Synapse Engineering SB001
HKS SSQV

VTA would be acceptable as long as it's not too loud.

This would used be on a 1.8 Miata with GT3071R running at both high and low boost, anywhere from 8 to 20 psi with MAP based standalone engine management.

I could probably use some schooling on the pros and cons on the different types of BOVs as well. Any comments or suggestions?

I'd think a Tein would do fine, but to be honest you should be able to get away with a $30 eBay blow-off/bypass valve. That's what I'm running. You'll probably want to set it up so it leaks at idle, which will give you the best response (softest spring), and put a filter on it.

Quick Q while were talking about BOV's, With a MS with the MAP and IAT sensors, can you use a VTA BOV without any downsides?

No downsides for a MAP based setup, unless you dislike the blow-off noise.

I'd think that for you, the HKS would probably make more sense if you are planning on running low and high boost. Some of the other BOVs like the Forge/Tial use a spring that would probably have to be swapped out with such a large variation from low 8psi to 20psi of boost because if using a strong spring for 20psi, it might not open until later at 8psi. The hks ssq will stay shut better and has two stage setup that would probably fit your setup better than a single large spring setup.

the tial blow off sounds so bad ***, like a ******* star wars rocket ship or something. I'm not really a ricer, and for the sake of saving face I bought the "BOV re-route kit", but man I'd love to slap a tial bov on there to scare adults.

the hks SSQ is the only BOv that you will not have any trouble with. they are maintenance free and should outlast your car. Although, i personally think they sound like **** regardless of the "insert".

I have a Tial and its bad ***.

The only reason to use a recirculating is to be stealth and/or you use a MAF.

If you have stand alone with MAP the atmosphere just makes better sense.

It also sounds rad. Why not sound as bad as you are??

I wouldnt suggest it for low boost though. Well mine anyway. I have an 11lbs spring.

I'm running a Turbosmart Megasonic! I don't think there is a BOV out there that is louder than this one.It's very well built and looks menacing with the dual trumpets.
