Yeah, I'm sure we could provide the Axon with or without the solenoid and harness. It should work fine with just about any three port solenoid. The Humphrey piece looks interesting. It's the same price as the GM part ($10 for solenoid and $13 for the harness), but I don't know how the specs compare.

No sweat. I am not sure if any of you have installed Profec B's before but they come with a rubber isolater for the solenoid. It seems to help with the noise quite a bit and could be easily replicated.
Also not to take away from the Axom, but I found another home brew type of boost controller. http://www.tullostech.com/index.php?...ask=view&id=45 There is a deal on www.homemadeturbo.com with a coupon code for $175 plus shipping for the first 5 then $200 after that. Pretty nice looking unit that looks like it would be at home in an ashtray. This price is without solenoid. |
That piece may look nicer than the GM piece, but that doesn't really mean anything. I'ver never once heard my GM solenoid operating (well, except once when the engine wasn't running while I was doing testing); mine's mounted to one of the old cruise-control mounting tabs with a little piece of rubber to isolate it.
If you're able to hear a little solenoid over your turbo Miata's engine/exhaust, you car's too quiet! :D |
I plan on using MS for boost control...but I've used a profec b on another car, and it worked well. I liked the high and low boost option for texas heat...but thats about it.

Our estimated price for the Axon was including the solenoid.
That Tullos unit is interesting also, we certainly like to keep tabs on the other units out there. Also very cool that they are another two brothers trying to start a company doing this. My brother and I run our company, 2G Engineering... so pick the family you like best :) I will say this about the business of making an inexpensive boost controller, it is not in and of itself a winning proposition. There is not enough profit to run a business selling less than 1000 of them a year. So, our plan is to use this product as our intro to the market, get the process of manufacturing, sales, etc, down. And then get some more products and software out there so that we can actually get some real sales volume and better margins. So, um, guess I got a little off on a tangent there... Buy our stuff! :) Thanks, Hal |
Instead of using a plastic vacuum nipple for the pressure signal, what do you think about having an empty 1/8" npt female port so the end user can pick the connection?
|
Price?
|
The expected price is going to be in the 200-250 range.
Sounds like a Hell of a Deal! :) |
My bad, didn't see that information on the first page :)

Hal or Taylor have handled them more than I, though, so perhaps they think differently. |
I was just curious. I love pipe threads:bigtu:

Hello guys,
I found this thread from all the hits coming to my website, TullosTech.com. If you guys have any questions about my boost controller please ask. Our controller is simple enough to for a turbo newbie to understand and dial in the settings very quickly, but for those Hard Core Tuners, we have a USB port on our EBC for the advanced tuning using our windows tuning software which can be downloaded off our website. The controller connects directly to the USB port and the driver is automatically installed by windows so there isnt much complication for those advance tuners. We have had prototypes out since two summers ago and the feedback we received on those controllers we built our latest controller. And to the other guys making an EBC PM or email me if you want to discuss details. This weekend (Oct 13 - Oct 15) we are going to have a special, which will include free UPS shipping to the lower 48 states so that is $200 shipped. Check out that link above or I will come back here later and post the code in here if there is any interest. We have our solenoids back in stock on saturday. Again if anyone wants to contact us, we are open M-F 9:00-4:00 pm CST 318-775-0059 Nick Tullos |
wow cool

DAMNIT, I don't have enough money to keep jumping on these deals. This is totally unfair, deals like these need to be spread apart. I just bought WI for christ sake!
|
dammit why did i pay up front for that dyno time i'll hit you guys up later for more info and pprobably a sale.
|
Pretty tempting, benefits of this unit over another such as the Greddy Profec outside of the low cost(shipped)? They seem very similar in function so I don't see why it wouldn't be wise to safe a few bucks and get the Tullos. Anyone else going to take advantage of this deal?

I took a look at the extra firmware, it looks like the boost control is still "EXPERIMENTAL". does it work well?
Yes it works very well for internal wastegates and it works great with external wastegates. Because of the different designs I'm sure you understand why external wastegates have better control. I'm running an internal wastegate with a small turbo so I get the extreme condition and it works very well. There are a few people with a similar setup to mine and they are all extremely satisfied. The reason for our low price is to get our product on the market so customers will tell others about our great product. Here is a discount coupon if anyone would like to try our product. This is for free shipping inside the US this weekend. Enter MTDISCOUNTOCT this code in the checkout box. Our toll free line is 1-877-832-8256, we are open M-F 9:00pm - 4:00pm Nick |
