Bad idea to base a build on an incorrect turbo. You can't afford to break your car so you can't afford to **** with it.

What is your daily driver car? If the answer is the Miata then you are just screwing your sister. Yeah, you are doing something but it isn't going to be right and nothing good will come of it.

i am currently driving the miata. i have a civic as backup. im not going for peak horse power. i know it wont be the most efficient setup. but its cheap boost. since the turbo was free. i want to throw around the cheap options before i drop more cash. and just because its not common doesnt make it incorrect. thats one reason im trying to figure out if its possible. currently searching for a compressor map. but i will need to be taught how to decipher it. i work at a machine shop so building a manifold wont cost me much as we have alot of piping laying around. keep in mind. this is a budget build lol. but i want it to be a semi safe budget build

The main thing about basing a build on turbo x y or z is that if that turbo is not using a T25 style turbine housing, you find yourself with a down pipe and ex mani that wont work when you want to get a better turbo down the road. Suddenly you not only must replace the turbo, but also the mani, the down pipe, and quite possibly the oil and coolant line fittings.

So what might have been an 800 dollar upgrade to get the driving characteristics and power you really want is actually a 1500 dollar upgrade due to having to buy new mani and downpipe, plus the aggravation of doing a pile of ebaying/craigslisting.

So if a freebie is a T25 hotside, that's helpful, but if not you really have to look at how much $ you really save and if you are actually paying to have an inferior system in the long run.

I'm building the Mani and downpipe myself so minimal cost.

what about when you realize that the turbo is in no way a good match for your poor flowing stock rod BP having built everything around it?

Your plan is dumb. like one of those people that keeps repeating "it will cost me nothing" looking at only the short term money invested, never considering their time, and never considering long term side effects of making this classic mistake.

If we know anything about dumb people though, is that they're extremely stubborn, so I fully expect you to proceed with this plan of yours and build around the turbo, ignoring all our advice.

ok. been a while since ive posted. car is still in the state it was since i last posted. wifes car has been giving issues so we have been saving for her to get a nice new car. new job for me is showing promising paychecks so the build may be back on sometime soon. car still runs great as is. my tune has seamed to be holding fine which has surprised me since it was my first tune to do. this idea is still not dead. probably just gonna cost more than a tax return gives lol. one day she will see boost!
