Default Boosted At Last

Well it's been a long time coming but finally, my car is boosted.

drove it to the exhaust shop this morning to get the exhuast done, then around to the dyno place to book her in for a dyno tune, which is happening saturday morning.

i'd like to say a big thankyou to all the people who have helped me , or provided great info on this forum. boags (or whatever it is he is called here), braineack for his awesome FAQ sticky, magnamx5, uncle arthur, especially juffa for lending me some tools, aussiedriver (altho i haven't finished the MS yet mate ) and everyone else here. thanks.

the car is running a modified avo kit with garret t25, 460cc injectors, a dfa, and a cold air intake. i will get some pictures up soon, but i can't at the moment because some arsehole broke into my house 2 days ago and stole my digital camera and my iBook

Congrats on the boost. Sucks about the robbery.
How close to having MS complete and installed?

i have finished building the MS, i just haven't figured out how to wire it in yet.

i still have a few niggly issues to sort out but at least the car is on the road. i am a bit worried about the oil pressure tho. the temp gauge looks fine, according to that, the car is not overheating. but my oil pressure previously sat between 2 and 4 depending on if i was idling or under load. now once the car warms up it sits between about 1 and 3. should i be worried about this? i'm guessing the extra heat is causing the oil to get a lot runnier than it did before.
it's got fresh oil in too obviously, not sure if this would make a differrence.

Not sure it matters but what oil did you put in it. I use a heavier 15/40 synthetic in mine. Helps lifter tick as well. My oil pressure drops a tiny bit after getting into boost.

i used castrol magnatec 10w-40.

so yeah maybe an upgrade to some thicker oil is in order .

Ive used both 5w30 and 10w30 redline on my boosted motor for over 2 years and have liked both.

Do you guys notice a lot of oil consumption with the lower viscosities?

I have run mobil 10w30 syn and didn't notice any but i have read of many that do see some oil consumption with the lower viscosity oils. I'm now running a heavy weight oil to chill out my lifter tick during the summer months.

While we're all at it - I'd really better post a pic of my pride and joy (or at least what's under the hood now).........and the view people get as I drive away.....

Still doing a few tweaks and so on, but she certainly goes.....

So fatty pics or ban

one last thing before my car goes on the dyno (hopefully) tomorrow.

since i am running the dfa in the meantime until i get the ms installed... i am still running on the stock ecu so the car still switches between open and closed loop. i beleive that the in closed loop the car tries to maintain afr of 14.7, which may be a bit lean in boost. i am not going to fit an o2 clamp.
so, my question is - should i disconnect the o2 sensor and just tune and run it from the dfa modded afm signal, or should i leave the 02 sensor in place and tried to tune around the closed loop issues. i am not worried that i might use more fuel by running open loop until i get my ms, i am just most concerned with having a safe, reliable setup in the meantime. (i'd rather not blow my engine up)

the car defualts to full rich so you have nothing to worry abuot a stock miata has been clocked at 11-1 NA on the dyno while in the range we generally see boost at anything past 50% airflow volume indicated it will defualt rich. So you will be all good.
