Just built a 3" exhaust with no cat and this muffler in the 5X8X18" flavor. So far I like it, has a nice deep tone with no rasp and it's quieter than expected.

no:

please note: the speakers are not distoring out. Those bass drops are clean, the camera's mic cannot handle my sub; you can see the thing shake when the bass, mmmmmmmmmmm, drops.

Bumping this thread for your long-term review.

You said it got louder after 300 miles.

What about now?

I'm going back and forth between this sucker and the straight through one Brainey uses.

Long term review?

i'm seriously hoping your response is: "its so quiet I have to yell at prius drivers for disturbing the peace"

It's still quiet.

I haven't been driving much since the weather has gotten colder, but I did take it out yesterday afternoon for the first time in a while. IDK if it's due to the cold temps here lately, but upon startup it sounded even quieter than normal.

I still like it, kinda wouldn't mind if it was a bit louder since it's not my daily but...

Oh wow, now I'm really excited. I absolutely LOVE quiet exhausts.

Now that I have one, and inspected it (read: looked into it )

Here is what it actually is:

Its not a T. Its not a Y.

Its like a reverse V?

The gray is the insulation/packing. The 2 "tubes" are similar to the single that the traditional magna has: lots holes in them. The "pockets" are welded sheetmetal. I'm assuming there's packing between the 2 tubes too.

Looks like there's packing on the "walls" near the inlet/outlet too. Its not empty on the sides like we originally thought.

Basically they made some sort of "pocket" between the 2 tubes inside. Its definitely looking sorta like they were trying to accomplish what Brainey tried to illustrate above. At least I hope that's how it works.

Obviously will posts results when its on. It looks and feels top notch though. Can't wait to get it on.

Here is a link to the white car Im working on with the big magnaflow no hotdog.

Below these two pictures is a link to youtube, its only just uploaded so I cannot embed it yet.

It has a startup and revving.

Yes its out of tune deal with it.

Listen to my voice and clicking fingers to compare volume.

Bumping this as I have outgrown the annoying drone on my 2.5" FM exhaust.

Any of you guys running either the "dual" 12579 or the "straight" 12578 care to share some more impressions after running these for a while.

I plan to just replace the muffler and keep the rest of my current system (Full FM 2.5") as is for now. I just need a bit of quick quietness to stop me from selling the car as the drone from the FM is getting old... (As am I )

So which should I order for ultimate quietness?

Just ordered the Magnaflow 12578 5x11x22 for $106 shipped. It should be at my door by Tuesday next week and hopefully installed days after. I'm excited to see the difference between straight pipe and the big muff

Here's the before and after sound clip. The Magnaflow is stupid quiet, at least compared to my old set up. The exhaust is straight pipe with the muffler only.
