You will need to move the AC condenser a little to make it fit if you get the thicko one like I did.

Yeah, I had to push mine forward a little so it didn't contact the radiator.

I ordered the CXRacing radiator tonight (from ebay seller ETD Racing) .... I wasn't sure at first, but then I found this helpful thread. Good stuff.

FWIW, I installed a CXRacing radiator on my 90 spec miata 2 weeks ago and have run it for 3 days so far with absolutely no issues.
It bolted up a bit funny, but that's because my frame is bent. :giggle:

When I install this, how much coolant should I have ready to fill up the system?

Atlanta93LE 03-10-2009 07:52 AM

I just installed a perhaps-identical Mishimoto, and it took short of 2 gallons total. I was expecting more.

Installed the CXR radiator today.

There were two glitches, both not difficult to fix.

First: the extra thickness of the CXR radiator, vs. stock, caused the fans to not easily fit around my FM throttle body elbow and FM turbo compressor-to-IC inlet piping. So I had to remove those parts, then put the new radiator in, then reinstall the FM stuff. Mangled some of the new radiator's front fins .... grumble.

Second: When I transferred the stock fans to the new radiator, four out of five holes lined up perfectly, but one was off by 1/4-inch. It took some persuading but I eventually got it to work by bolting down the "off" hole first, then attaching the other four bolts a little at a time.

Otherwise, the job was uneventful. I never changed a radiator before (I never even changed my own coolant before!) so it took me four hours instead of one. :)

All's well that ends well ....

wow mine lined up perfectly, I installed the fans last as the BEGI intake is very hard to get back on in tight places.

Mine is still going strong...

leatherface24 03-24-2009 01:32 PM

im getting another one for my MSM

CXRacing sells the radiator w/ shroud and 2 slim fans. Would it be better to purchase this, or a plain CXRacing radiator and use my stock fans?

pjm 05-15-2009 10:41 PM

At long last I fitted the cxracing rad to my 00.

I fitted a slimline fan to replace the stock left hand fan and give me lots of clearance for the intercooler hose elbow.

I also had to make a new bracket for the PS hoses.

Rad going strong after a weeks now.

Installed mine earlier this week in my MSM. All is fine so far.

Edit - Oh sh!t, a two year old thread and I can't delete the post, sorry. Well, fwiw, the cxracing radiators are still good (and cheap), LOL.
