Which clutch should I get?

Should be right around 200whp.

Those are the only 2 choices?

Do you really want to save a little money now, to have to pull the tranny again later?

Tremiata 07-23-2007 10:19 PM

There was a similar thread which others were giving the ok to the F1 kit.

Dhaark 07-23-2007 11:05 PM

I think the F1 is the same as CLUTCHNET?? that is what I heard on here before... I'm using a 6puck clutchnet clutch + 3x red PP ;)

act extreme, pony up the extra dough now and thank yourself later

Savington 07-23-2007 11:49 PM

Have fun pulling your transmission twice.

ACT HD should hold 200rwhp, especially with a 6-puck. $377 at CarolinaClutch.com.

The F1 looks different than my clutchnet. Mine has the springs totally "wrapped" by the housing vs. open on the ends. The springs on my rebuild Spec just ripped right through the open ends on the plate. I hate changing clutches enough to not risk this job on going cheap. Just not a battle worth losing IMO. Somebody on here has a post where they got one of those eBay clutches and it was bad out of the box. He spent an eternity arguing with the seller who insisted upon sending generalized, non-specific responses regarding the problem.

SloS13 07-24-2007 10:02 AM

I just ordered one of the F1 clutches, now im waiting for it to show up. Hope I dont end up kicking myself in the ass for it :)

The 1.8 HD will ABSOLUTELY hold 200. Plenty of folks are running it around 300 wheel. When I was clutch shopping, one of the dudes at FM who I spoke with told me he had 40k miles on his HD at ~300 hp, including track use.

I would go to the safe side and get an XT in 1.6 size. Though the 1.6HD should hold 200 fine.

samnavy 07-24-2007 10:39 AM

Stay away from Spec until I get my shit sorted out... should be another two weeks or so.

1redcanuck 07-24-2007 06:59 PM

If I do end up going with ACT, Which specific XT should I get.

good guys...they have their shop right down the street from where I live so I just stopped in and bought my ACT XT from them in person. They know what they are talking about and have damn good prices.

I got the 1.6 XT with an organic street disc. Love it. Holds the power very well. The pedal effort is not too too bad and the engagement point isn't very low at all.

I'm very satisfied with the XT.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that the f1 stg3 clutch I have in my car right now said clutchnet on every single part that I received. Additionally, it has been working perfectly in my car since december.

im rocking the SAME clutch.holds 12psi from a gt2560 all day:bigtu:

drewbroo 07-25-2007 04:47 AM

I like the Centerforce Dual Friction, I will be running it in the miata soon, I have had one in a 360WHP SHO, and in a 294WHP 944. They have nice street drivability, and don't get crunchy where most other clutches do, also I have never had one go out on me.

1redcanuck 07-25-2007 06:42 PM

Ok. Thanks for the info guys. Has anyone had the F1 and not liked it?

Stripes 07-25-2007 06:51 PM

Another happy ACT extreme user. Holding 14psi just fine. I say buy a clutch that exceeds your hp expectations so you have room to grow.

1redcanuck 08-07-2007 08:09 PM

Hey SloS13 are you running the F1 yet? If so how do you like it so far?
