I picked it up on eBay- it wasn't an FM unit. I've had it for about 5 years... no keypad. But there have been two that sold on ebay recently for far less than that with keypad and injectors. Here's a tip- do a search on ebay for "miata link" then save that search in your favorites and ebay will email you when something matching it comes up. Of course you'd be bidding against everybody else on this site who want's one. What's nice about he LINK, is that FM has done an outstanding job of enhancing the software. That combined with the pLink software on a palm pilot and it's quite the slick setup IMO. - rob

ditto.

i wish i had never sold the first used one i had installed. the second one is a MK1, but with the circuit upgrades and chip, i can run everything the latest ones can except a boost controller.

i think a standalone like the link makes modifying a miata so much easier and reliable.

Alright, well that makes me feel a lot more confident about finding a good deal on a Link then... quick question though. What would you guys consider the lowest possible price I could find on a Link? I'm going to buying everything I need over the next 9 or 10 months and I don't want to let an awesome deal get away because I "might" be able to get a better deal later.

HEHE, that's exactly how I did it. I think the one I bought was on ebay for less than thirty minutes. He had a buy it now price of 550 and I snagged it as soon as I saw it. The seller mentioned he had people emailing him for days offering to pay double for what I bought it for.

I was also lucky. I bought it from an honest guy who shipped it out right away and was exactly as described.

I'll also mention it took me a year to find this deal.

I think a good deal would be anywhere from 700-850 with injectors and a knock sensor. A great deal would be anything less than 700 bucks. You're probably going to spend another 100 bucks cleaning injectors and upgrading the Link chip. Also, take into consideration the attitude of the seller especially on Ebay. I personally do not buy anything on ebay unless the seller has excellent feedback. Ask questions if you’re not sure about the unit. I found out after I bought my link there are two different versions for 94-95. I was lucky and bought the right one.

A just reward for expert eBay-ing.
The saab/gm knock sensors work with the link and FM sells the mount separately for $15 (found out after I made my own ). The trick is using a spare rear thermosensor connector to plug up to the knock sensor. The other end is just an rca jack- be sure to use a shielded cable - and ground the shield on one end for maxium noise supression.

With the exception of my link and injectors (which were on my other Miata) I spent about -$1,000. YES, that is MINUS $1,000 - very long story. I think the link and stuff was about $1500 so I have around $500 in mine. I would KILL for a $550 link for my wife's car. Where do you live? <G>

Personally I think $3500 is "reasonable" for a DIY setup.

Lets see here....

-Garrett GT3271 Turbo = 700
-Carbon Steel Log mani w/ JetHOT 2000 = 500
-Stainless 2.5in DP w/ external Tial 38mm vented back in 3ft down = 750
-DIY IC pipes w/ Starion IC w/2in inlet and outlet, 1st Gen HKS Sequential BOV, T bolt clamps, sillicon couplers = 500
-Inline Pierburgh pump, BEGI Billet AFPR, Bipes ACU, 330cc injectors = 600

Thats about 3k, but I have so much more into the car...thats just the turbo kit pieces currently on the car. I have other supporting mods that youll also need. Clutch for one and gauges youll need for the turbo.

plan on about $5000+ after you've gotten your exhaust, clutch, rear end, better brakes, roll bar, real tires.
